We had Dominic perform a home inspection for us yesterday on a home that we are in the process of purchasing.  I contacted Dominic on Monday, 07/21 to schedule the home inspection after being referred to him by our realtor as one of three potential home inspectors.  After reviewing all three here on Angie's List, I opted to call Dominic first.  As we are in somewhat of a time crunch, I was prepared to go with whomever could fit us in soon.  
I called Dominic on 07/21 to request an appointment.  He answered his phone professionally and when I explained that both my husband and I wanted to be there for the inspection and as such would need a late afternoon/early evening appointment, he was able to accomodate us on 07/24 - only three days later at 3 p.m., which worked out very well for us.
Dominic arrived on time (he was there even before I got there) and by 3 p.m. had already been up on the roof and done the roof inspection.  He spent the next 3 hours inspecting the entire house from the roof down to the crawl space.  He was very professional, congenial and patient with both my husband and me as we both interrupted him to ask questions from time to time.  He answered all of our questions and explained many times what he was doing and what he was looking for.
After completing the inspection, he sat down with the two of us and our realtor, explained the entire inspection and showed us all of the photos that he had taken. He made note of all of the major issues found in the house as well as any serious safety concerns.  He was patient with our questions and explained everything in terms even someone like me could understand within reason.  At the end of the debriefing, he explained that he would send the report over to both us and our real estate agent the next day and would include a link to all of the photos that he had taken.  We concluded our business at about 6:20 p.m.
By 9:30 a.m. the next morning, 07/25, Dominic had emailed the report to us and to our real estate agent, including a link to all of the photos that he had taken.  The report is very well written -- it has a cover page that explains the findings broken out by what type of issue was found (e.g., "Major," "Safety," Repair Items," "Improvement Items," etc.).  This makes it easy to understand, it's well documented and is also easy to use during the negotiations with the seller regarding what we would like fixed prior to closing.
We were extremely satisifed with the services that Dominic performed for us and would not hesitate to recommend him highly as a home inspector.  As a side note, he did honor the coupon that he offers here on Angie's List - in fact, he gave me $35 off the quoted price instead of only $30.  I asked my husband (who is a carpenter and a foreman for commercial construction) just this morning what he thought about the inspection that Dominic performed and he told me that he thought it was very thorough and he was quite pleased.  We highly recommend Dominic!

It was fine but in the aftermath a lot of contractors came out and asked me why a lot of stuff wasn't inspected. At the end of the day we spent $15000 to have a bunch of stuff fixed. The main issue was the siding and we had to left the house and remove some parts of it and replace some beams from the side of the house. It was a huge hassle and a lot of money. And because of the inspection not covering any of that we couldn't use that in our negotiations when we bought the house. The inspection was June of 2013 and we spend $350.

It was very professional and well done. The inspector arrived on time and was very thorough and clear.

Mr. Schreiner did an excellent job for a fair price.  He was friendly, talkative, and new a lot about homes.  He will help you anytime too after the inspection with questions or advice.  I would hire him again, definitely.  He did a thorough job.  He provided a great report and even sent me all the extra photos that he took after he was finished with the job, like he had promised (and I had forgotten).  He gave me a lot of great tips too about making improvements to several things, like heating and cooling and roof ideas and drainage ideas, etc.  Real smart guy.

Excellent services by Dominic. He was able to see me on short notice, he was professional, prompt, and I feel covered the house very well. I gave him a call for a second inspection and there was some mix up about the time for it - however he quickly said he would come the following day and do any work for free. Wow.
He is also well connected and has been in the business for several years.
He built a robust report, loads of pictures, and we got the Sellers to repair every bit.
A final note - he goes into lots of detail about everything, especially when asked a question - I felt like everything was answered. He also wanted any followups if certain things in the house change. I've already recommended him to others.

A home purchase is a big deal, and we wanted to make sure we knew exactly what we were getting in to up front. Dominic was recommended to us by our realtor. When I called to schedule the appointment, he was very courteous, and took the time to answer the questions I had about his service, his years in the field, what was included (and what wasn't). I also had some questions about having the well water quality tested (which he does not do) and he was very helpful in suggesting avenues to get this done affordably. We were able to get an appointment within a few days. Although we were a bit late getting to the home, Dominic was there already working on the exterior inspection, which impressed me. While we waited for the realtor to arrive, we took care of the paperwork and payment. Once we were in the home, I found Dominic's inspection to be thorough and detailed, but he took the time throughout to stop and explain what he was doing or looking for, and what he was seeing. There was no feeling that we were bothering him with our questions, in fact he made sure to ask us all along if we had any questions or if he could explain anything. When he was finished, he showed us all the photos of his findings, and summarized everything he had found. We received the inspection report within 1 working day (our inspection was on a Friday and we had the report on Monday). The report was detailed and easy to understand.  One of the issues Dominic identified was electrical related, and his recommendation was to bring in an electrician to evaluate his findings. The electrician came in and inspected the home wiring, and validated Dominic's findings and more importantly, did not find anything that Dominic had not already identified. When we were negotiating with the seller, we had some additional questions. We called Dominic, and he was very helpful and took the time to answer those questions as well. Overall, the experience was fantastic. We highly recommend Dominic from Finishing Touch Home Inspection.
