"Everything was handled well. My wallpaper was damaged by time and now I can't see where the damage existed. Everything went fine from moving a large buffet away from the wall, healing the paper with new glue (it looks great) and returning the buffet back to it's place. I would recommend this company to anyone asking."

"Fantastic! P. Martinez showed up in 3 hours of my call to give us a fair bid. His crew was here the following day at 8am to start the wall paper strip. They did that in 1 day. The following day they did a great job filling, caulking and painting. Also they did a perfect clean up. We could not be more satisfied with this project. I will definitely hire Porfirio Martinez again for painting, drywall or other work."

"It went great! They scraped our popcorn ceilings in three rooms and installed crown moulding in two. They were professional and took great care of our property while working. We were so happy with their work that we hired them again immediately, for the exterior painting of our house. The professionalism, and work was again fantastic! We have them in mind to hire again for more projects, so that should be a testament to how happy we are with them."

"Carlos arrived promptly and began work immediately.  He worked non-stop for 3 hours removing wallpaper from my small kitchen.  The wallpaper was years old and the removal was a painstaking process.  Carlos was outgoing, energetic and a pleasure to work with.  I've asked him to quote a small remodel job in my kitchen as well as painting a powder room and master bath.  I'm looking forward to working with Carlos in the future and would highly recommend him.

Wallpaper Removal questions, answered by experts

If you’re installing new wallpaper and have leftover glue, you can remove unused wallpaper paste from the bucket or pan it’s in by letting it dry. If it’s an oil-based paste, seal it in a plastic bag and throw it in the garbage. Otherwise, toss the leftover wallpaper paste in the trash. Although it’s water-soluble, don’t rinse unused wallpaper paste down the sink because it could dry in the pipes and cause a blockage.

In most cases, it is not recommended to wallpaper over existing wallpaper, as the success depends on the type of paper already on the wall. While you might be able to cover non-coated wallpaper, you should never apply new wallpaper over a vinyl-coated one, which is more common. Doing so can lead to poor adhesion, resulting in bubbles, imperfections, and peeling. It can also trap moisture, potentially causing hazardous mold growth between the layers.

Even if the existing wallpaper is suitable, experts recommend applying only one new layer. Adding multiple layers (more than two total) can cause significant adhesion problems, leading to warping and bubbling. For the best results, the recommended approach is to remove the old wallpaper and all paste residue before hanging the new paper. If you are unsure about your wallpaper type, consider consulting a professional.

Hiring a professional wallpaper remover is almost always worthwhile. Although the work is more expensive due to labor costs, doing it yourself is extremely time-consuming, complicated, and easy to make mistakes and wreak havoc on your walls, regardless of the tools you use. Professional wallpaper removers have the tools and experience to get old wallpaper down quickly and without damaging the walls behind it.

While it is possible to paint over wallpaper, it is generally better to remove it first to guarantee a smooth, professional finish. Painting over wallpaper can save time, but it may lead to issues if not done correctly.

You can paint over existing wallpaper if it is in excellent condition: smooth, non-textured, clean, and firmly adhered to the wall. Ensure there are no bumps, tears, or peeling areas, and that all corners and seams are securely glued down. You might also consider painting over wallpaper if removing it would damage the underlying wall. Additionally, some wallpapers are specifically designed to be paintable, which can add texture to a room.

However, there are risks. If the wallpaper is textured, damaged, or peeling, these imperfections will show through the new paint. The moisture from the paint can also loosen the wallpaper's adhesive, causing it to bubble and potentially damage the wall. To mitigate these issues, clean the surface thoroughly and use an oil-based primer to help the paint adhere and prevent the old adhesive from bleeding through.

The pros of wallpaper include its durability and longer lifespan than paint, as well as its versatility. The durability can translate to lower long-term costs for upkeep and replacement, and the versatility means you have more options for customizing rooms in your home. Some downsides include that it’s difficult to remove, it’s not ideal for rooms or areas exposed to high moisture content or sun exposure, and it’s tricky to install. A professional wallpaper hanger can help mitigate these issues, though, by installing it properly and in areas suitable for wallpaper.
