"Theo responded to my request immediately with a phone call. We set an appointment for the next week. When Theo arrived, he assessed the wiring and sensors that were in the house. Then he explained how the system would work, that he could integrate the smoke alarms as well, and could install it two days later. He was far and above more comprehensive with his review and explanations than the other two security companies that I met with. He replaced the motion detector, one of the sensors, and even installed a NEST thermostat at no extra charge, allowing me to integrate the climate control into the Alarm app. He was AWESOME."

"Zach arrived on time and set right to work solving my long standing problems w my network. Zach said that I'm more interested in the technical aspects of the setup than most customers, and he took the time to explain what I was interested in learning. He provided and set up two items of networking equipment [routers], several cameras and software that I had on hand. He also guided me on using app on smartphone to access system from elsewhere. He called the next morning to be sure all was still working as designed in installed - it was/is. All in all, a great experience. Texas Tech Guru, Inc. is the answer to all your computer or networking problems. I would [will] call him again. I will recommend him to friends."

"I am using the time stamps on my cell phone logs to chronicle this amazing response.
The light kit on a ceiling fan failed (second time failure....first time Hunter replaced the switch housing assembly under warranty, but now they no longer make that part.) I called Dave at Electrician on Call  at 9:35 a.m. to ask if the assembly could be repaired. He described the fix to the problem he thought I was experiencing. I asked about an estimate and he said it was a fix that would take less than an hour and suggested I purchase the Angies List special that was $105 for one hour which would be the best deal for this relatively simple repair. So I did. At  9:59 a.m. I received a call from the office saying the electricians would be at my home at 10:08 a.m. They pulled up at exactly 10:08.  Obdulio and Tony asked me to show and describe the problem, and I did. At 10;35 they had completed the repair, loaded their truck and departed. So, called at 9:35 a.m., work scheduled and completed at 10:35 a.m. same morning. Everyone was pleasant and professional and Obdulio and Tony couldn't have been more personable.

Home Security Systems questions, answered by experts

Yes, you should always change your locks after buying a house. Do so as soon as possible after you move in. Otherwise, you won’t know who has working keys to the property, whether they’re spare keys or otherwise. If an intruder gains access to your house with a key, it may not be covered under your homeowners insurance.

Not all security systems are equal, so familiarize yourself with the many features available and any associated costs. Decide on a wireless or wired system and look at monthly subscription fees to access the service. Finally, read plenty of reviews to check out the efficacy of your intended security system.

Yes, you can install a home security system in an old house. In fact, you can install a security system in any home. Some wiring may need to be added, but most home security systems do not require a lot of additional wiring. Wireless security systems can easily be installed with minimal additional wiring, if any at all. Most wireless security systems can be monitored and controlled from your smartphone, and the cameras and sensors operate on batteries.

It is possible to spend only $30 on a camera that can cover one particular area. You wouldn't need to buy software, hardware, cables, or anything else. Instead, it would connect wirelessly to an app on your phone where you could monitor the feed and take necessary actions at your own discretion.

One significant drawback of home automation is the increased risk of cybersecurity threats. With more connected devices in our homes, there's a greater chance that hackers might try to exploit vulnerabilities to access personal data or even control your devices. If you don't secure your smart gadgets properly, they can become entry points for cyberattacks, risking your privacy and safety. Moreover, technology isn't perfect. Sometimes, systems can malfunction or experience connectivity issues, disrupting your daily routines. The upfront cost of buying and installing smart devices can also be a hurdle for some people.
