"I've used Collin County Sprinkler for both repairs and to add zones to my current irrigation system. I've enjoyed working with their friendly and competent staff. They show up on time for their appointment and complete the work that has been agreed too. During their last visit, Jorge pointed out a couple of issues that needed to be repaired that I had missed when I did my own inspection of the system. These additional items were repaired while Jorge and his crew were on site. I will use these folks again when I need future work on my irrigation system"

"Absolutely fantastic. Job done very professionally. Charge is straightforward and upfront. 2 persons work together and they waste no time. The total service took 1 hour and 15 minutes, that extra 15 minutes is charged as 15 minutes rather than an entire hour. They gladly honored their 10% coupon. It's difficult to find a fair and honest services nowadays, at least for the electrician, plumbing, lawn irrigation, etc. services I sadly encountered recently. Moore Sprinkler is on my dial in future needs."

"Pricing was reasonable. Work was great and quick. Carlos also gave advice on how to get rid of the stump using salt (I was planning to buy a stump killer). That saved time and money for me. They also removed small hackberry plants from our lawn even though that was not part of the agreement. They go the extra mile and I would definitely recommend them.

"On Saturday July 2, 2016 we had SOD installed in our entire front yard.  Our sprinklers however were not up to the task of watering and keeping this expensive project alive.  Lucky for us I found Southern Comfort Lawn.  I called Bryan on Tuesday 7/5/16 and ask how long it would be to get help.  After telling him my problem, he said he would be here in 1 hour/  REALLY !
He showed up a he said, surveyed the problem and gave me a cost to fix.  I agreed and he went right to work.
We are 100% good to go now, grass is happy and we are also.
NOTE: Bryan, also did a considerable amount of work on some tree and vine areas in our back yard, rewired the sprinkler control box so the order of watering was correct. Loaded a couple of items in our truck we could not lift, and DID NOT chaqqrge us for any of this.
If you need help and quality honest service this guy is it.  Call him."

"I got 3 bids on this project. Chris was far and away the most knowledgeable on this kind of watering system. He used a Rain Bird RWS Root Watering System with four 36-in. Tubes and a 0.5 GPM Bubbler for the largest tree (about 16 inches in diameter) and four 18-in. Tubes and a 0.25 GPM Bubbler for each of the 2 smaller trees (about 12 inches in diameter). He minimized the damage to tree roots by using a Flex tubing nearer the trees after using PVC to reach the area. He was punctual, efficient and careful on the project, replacing sod he removed to minimize the impacts of digging. He took time to explain the details of how the system worked, including planning the sizing of the Bubbler watering rates0. I was confident from my initial conversation with him that he was someone who knew what he was doing and honest in his dealings. The job was finished in a day and 1/2, and functions just as we were hoping it would. I would strongly recommend Chris Kinney for any lawn (or tree) irrigation work, and I plan to use him for any future work I have."

"I called Brent out to locate and troubleshoot a sprinkler system that probably hadn't been used in 20 years. It was like the irrigation whisperer how he located the old heads and water line. He brought the old system back from the dead and it's working beautifully now. Cost was very reasonable considering the skill and work needed."

"The Tech came out and we found that I had been running the irrigation for the last few months with one sprinkler not popping up which caused the erosion on the lawn. He replaced 3 Sprinklers (had to add extensions because of the thickness of the grass), adjusted a few more, and recommended that I level the lawn in the winter time when the lawn is dormant (Great Advice!)"

"Our home needed landscaping. We did not have any flower beds. I obtained 3 bids for landscaping from the list on Angies List. Mike was the lowest of the 3. He was very professional , honest, a hard worker, and paid attention to detail. The new beds with the plants has completely changed the look of the front of the house. We are very happy with his work. I normally do not write reviews but this time I had to do it. His work deserves praise. Do not hesitate to call him for an estimate. You will also be pleased."

"I can't say enough about Albert, the crew leader who took charge of rebuilding my 35-year old irrigation system. He was always punctual, easy to work with and knew what he was doing without a doubt. If you need repairs to your system, you owe it to yourself to give Albert at Andy's a call. Not sure if I should give out his cell number, but it's 210-632-4087."

Lawn Irrigation questions, answered by experts

Grass varieties such as tall fescue, zoysia, Bermuda, Bahia, and centipede grow best in sandy soil. These types of grass are drought resistant, so they help retain water and nutrients more easily. Consult a local lawn care company to determine the best type of grass to plant in your sandy lawn.

Soaking grass seeds in water before seeding is called pre-germinating. It’s not necessary but can be very helpful in some cases. Some grasses like are very slow to germinate, and basic seeding on the ground is unlikely to be effective—that’s especially true of cool season grasses like Kentucky bluegrass, rye grasses, and Bermuda grass. Soaking these seeds in a bag or bin of water for one to four days beforehand can give the grass the start it needs to survive.

First, you should figure out whether you have dormant or dead grass. Dead grass won’t come back, so you’ll have to reseed if you’re hoping for a lush lawn. However, grass can go dormant if it hasn’t received enough water or if temperatures are too cold. If it’s still decently warm outside, you can revive dormant grass by watering it. But if it’s mid-January in New England, for example, you’ll need to wait until the weather warms up again. If you want to keep grass green in winter, consider a grass like Kentucky bluegrass, which maintains its color year-round.

Depending on the lawn treatments, the best times of the year to redo your lawn are between mid-August and mid-September for overseeding and renovation treatments. For areas such as the southern United States, lawn aeration works best during the fall, when the temperatures begin to drop. Otherwise, early spring is your next best bet because the grass is fresh and ready to absorb nutrients, and the temperature isn’t hot enough to fry the grass and the renovation materials.

The best way to fix a lumpy yard depends on the cause. However, in many cases, you can address yard lumps by improving the health of your soil and turfgrass. Choose grass varieties that are best suited for your area and look for disease-resistant varieties. Fertilize and water your lawn as needed to keep it looking lush throughout the warmer months. Mow your grass at a height of 2 to 3 inches once or twice a week.
