We know it’s tough to find a home services contractor you can trust. With over six decades of experience, Blanton’s is a Raleigh and Fayetteville mainstay. Known for our professional approach, quality products. and guaranteed workmanship, we’re proud to offer heating, cooling, plumbing and electric solutions that knock your socks off.

"Horrible. I had them change the internal parts of two toilets (water)tank. They were leaking. They charged. me $650 to replace the internal parts of two water tanks of toilets which was in absolute rip off. There should be a law against anybody charging that much for something as little as this. The parts that they used to replace could not have cost over $50. So I paid them basically $600 in labor. I could have gone to Lowe's and bought two brand new toilets and had both installed for less than $700. I called Lowe's and priced this out."

"I felt extremely cared for by the whole company. They were clear with what they were able to do, what the problems were, etc.. I was given an extreme amount of attention and I was so impressed with the work that I ended up going ahead and having them replace my hot water heater because I could trust that it was going to be done right."

Our business specializes in bathroom and kitchen remodeling since 2000. We offer a range of products where the customer is in charge of the design process. For our bathrooms we offer our beautiful Bella stone acrylic walls, walk-in tubs with no cutting of doorways (faster installation), and tile. For Kitchens we offer a range of options for cabinets, countertops, and backsplashes. Our business is family owned and operated. We have been in business for 21 years in the Raleigh and surrounding areas. Our father and son team have over 30 years experience in the renovations business. We strive to provide great customer service and love helping our customers visions become a reality.

"This company has some of the rudest and most disrespectful people working there. Veronica and Jessica should not be in customer facing positions. The bathroom remodel was done well, but the tile installer needs a bit more attention to details. We still do not have glass and had to call the glass company last week directly for an update as they were not being provided by New York Renovations. NY Reno kept stating there’s a delay and timing is estimated. However, Glass Depot told us the deposit was never paid and that was 7 weeks after they came out for a template. Just called the glass company again for the first time since early last week after continued vague updates from NY Reno. One very helpful person told me that NY Reno just paid the deposit via ACH earlier this week and that they’d call back after asking around for a timing update. Never heard back, so I called again but was told that NY Reno had instructed Glass Depot to not speak with me. The woman at Glass Depot specifically said she was told by NY Reno to not discuss any financial information but could confirm that “the glass has been ordered”. However, when I called last week, that same person at Glass Depot said the deposit was not made and glass had not been ordered. Meanwhile, for weeks, NY Reno was providing random updates about our glass saying they haven’t heard from the glass company, or that it’s just one more panel to come in. Those seem to be false as well as the “receipt” they emailed which was a text only document on Microsoft Word (not images). I’m sure NY Reno will reply to this and say they have gone above and beyond to make us happy. Or, try to put the blame on us and call us rude for following up directly with their vendor, but we have plenty of emails and an outrageous to show this. Plus, a bizarre phone call from Veronica where she berated me by saying that I picked the wrong person to mess with, calling me insane, etc. Update: After I left a review on Google, Veronica from NY Reno emailed stating that they will no longer be in contact or respond to any form of communication until there is a glass install date. She also continued the false line of allegations regarding harassment. Their response to this review, negative criticism, and a customer pushing for concrete updates speaks volumes."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

In Durham, homeowners often encounter additional costs such as permit fees from the Durham City-County Inspections Department, repairs to walls or floors after pipe access, and code-required upgrades. Older homes may reveal outdated or hazardous materials like lead pipes, requiring remediation. After exterior plumbing work, restoring landscaping is another frequent expense. Planning for these possibilities can help you avoid surprises during your plumbing project.

Helpful?

Durham's occasional winter freezes make pipe insulation and frost-proof outdoor faucets essential for local plumbing projects. High humidity can lead to condensation issues in basements, so proper ventilation is key. Tree root intrusion is also common in older neighborhoods, so regular sewer line inspections are recommended. Scheduling major plumbing work in spring or fall can help avoid weather-related delays and ensure better contractor availability.

Helpful?

For plumbing work in Durham, PEX tubing and copper piping are preferred for their resilience against freezing, which is important given local winter conditions. For drain and vent lines, PVC is commonly used and meets Durham plumbing codes. Sourcing materials from reputable local plumbing supply stores ensures compliance with city standards and helps address Durham's unique water quality and climate considerations for long-lasting results.

Helpful?

When reviewing quotes for plumbing work in Durham, be cautious of unusually low estimates, requests for full payment upfront, or lack of a verifiable business address. Always ask for proof of licensing and insurance, as required by the North Carolina State Board of Examiners of Plumbing, Heating, and Fire Sprinkler Contractors. Checking references from local homeowners helps ensure you're hiring a reputable, qualified professional.

Helpful?

In Durham, most plumbing work—including new installations, major repairs, or gas line modifications—requires a plumbing permit issued by the Durham City-County Inspections Department. Projects must comply with the North Carolina Plumbing Code, and inspections are mandatory at key stages. Always confirm permit requirements with the Inspections Department before starting, and work with a licensed plumber to ensure your project meets all local plumbing regulations.
