"From the time Jerry arrived, he was extremely professional and willing to solve my rush needs for flooring. He assisted with picking out the carpet and updated me by text on a daily basis as to the status of my order. They installed my carpet a week after contracting with him and the installers were professional, quick and did an amazing job. My flooring looks beautiful and I could not be happier."

"Refloor is extremely organized and professional. Their communication alone was 5 stars. They were extremely patient, answered all of my questions and my floors turned out beautiful. They moved all of my furniture, installed the flooring, cleaned up and put all of my furniture back. They were over the top friendly and confident. I would definitely recommend Refloor!"

"I give this company the highest recommendation possible. They have excellent customer service- the owner, Jason, came to my house several times to go over options and estimates. He and his staff were always kind and took time to answer all my questions. The installation was well coordinated and the floors look great! They did such a great job and I trust them so much that I just hired them to replace the carpets in my home. I highly recommend them."

"Advantage helped me pick the proper flooring type for my situation. They had to replace the sub-floor and level and sand before laying the vinyl tile. my floor was in bad shape. They did an excellent job. The crew was courteous, prompt, and cleaned up at the end of every shift. I would highly recommend this company. I am thrilled with the end result."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Homeowners in Durham often encounter unexpected costs such as subfloor repairs, floor leveling, or moisture mitigation, especially in older homes. Additional expenses may arise from pest treatments discovered during removal, temporary storage for furniture, or HVAC adjustments. If your property is in a historic district, you might also need approvals or permits, which can add time and complexity to your flooring project.

Helpful?

In Durham, be cautious if a flooring contractor’s quote lacks details about hardwood flooring types, underlayment, or floor preparation. Watch for vague timelines, missing warranty information, or a refusal to provide references from local projects. If the quote excludes debris removal or doesn’t mention site moisture testing, it may signal inexperience or hidden charges that could affect your flooring installation.

Helpful?

In Durham, start by inspecting for moisture issues in crawl spaces and basements, then assess the condition of your subfloor, especially if your home predates 1990. Refinishing hardwood flooring can restore character, while installing waterproof flooring in kitchens and bathrooms helps prevent future damage. Prioritizing these flooring upgrades ensures your home is protected against the local climate and ready for daily use.

Helpful?

In Durham, subtle signs like slight buckling of hardwood flooring, persistent squeaks in high-traffic areas, or faint discoloration near baseboards often point to underlying moisture or subfloor problems. If you notice soft spots near appliances or shifting tiles, these can indicate hidden leaks or foundation movement. Addressing these early can help prevent extensive floor repair or costly flooring installation down the line.

Helpful?

Upgrading flooring in Durham can make your home more attractive to buyers and boost resale value. Restoring hardwood floors, updating tile in kitchens and bathrooms, or installing modern luxury vinyl plank are all sought-after improvements. Homes with well-maintained, contemporary flooring typically sell faster and stand out in the local market, making these projects a smart investment for long-term value.
