"They did an excellent job. The workers were on time, very professional, thorough, and cleaned up after themselves. They were also very knowledgeable on the different types of trees and the best way to trim them."

"Rick returned our calls promptly and gave us a fair quote for services. Baumann's does not overcharge or upsell. Once we settled on Baumann's Landscaping as our contractor, we called Rick and the crew were out the next morning promptly at 9am. We were expecting two days of work to clear the brush, but they completed the job in 4 hours. The crew went above and beyond, killing vines choking our trees, mulching all the deadfall, and pushing the brush line all the way back beyond the trees (we live on Maryland wetlands). Fast, prompt, great job. Would absolutely hire again. A++."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

In Washington, tree maintenance includes regular watering for new plantings, especially during hot and humid summers, and annual pruning to encourage healthy growth. Native species like oaks and maples benefit from periodic inspections for pests or disease. After severe weather, check for broken branches or root exposure. Applying mulch and monitoring for drought or road salt damage in winter helps maintain long-term tree health.

Helpful?

In Washington, the timeline for tree service projects depends on the project type and local factors. Tree removal for standard-sized trees usually takes 1–3 days, while larger or heritage trees may require up to a week, especially if permits are involved. Trimming or pruning is often completed within a day. Permit processing and high-demand seasons can add extra time, so plan ahead for scheduling and approvals.

Helpful?

When hiring tree service professionals in Washington, look for strong insurance coverage and proven experience with local tree species and neighborhood regulations. Professionals familiar with urban challenges, such as tight access or historic district requirements, are valuable. Always request references, compare detailed quotes, and clarify who handles necessary permits. Clear communication about debris removal and project timelines ensures a smooth tree service experience.

Helpful?

In DC, homeowners might encounter extra costs during tree service projects, such as permit fees for removing mature or protected trees, specialized equipment for tight urban spaces, or charges for identifying underground utilities. Additional expenses can arise from debris removal, stump grinding, or emergency tree removal after storms. Working near power lines or in historic neighborhoods may also require compliance measures that impact your final bill.

Helpful?

In DC, homeowners should consider local ordinances for protected or heritage trees, as well as requirements in historic neighborhoods. Urban challenges like narrow streets, limited parking, and dense underground utilities can affect access for tree removal or stump grinding. Seasonal timing matters too—avoid pruning oaks in spring to prevent disease. Coordination with utility companies may be needed for trees near power lines.
