Small business, self employed, use subcontractors that I can trust, minimum consultation and visit fee $295. That includes, site visit, inspection, and a verbal on site report and follow up with contractors as needed . The fee for site visit and inspection is a flat fee, basically it is the charge to drive to your location and provide a verbal report. This fee does not include a written formal report. A written report is approximately an additional $300. I work evenings and weekends as needed, structural, architectural and mechanical design, inspections and reports, fronsic, expert witness. Please contact by phone or email: [email protected]. I will be on Vacation from July 9th till July 25th

"Kamran was easy to coordinate with and schedule the inspection. He was prompt and thorough with his review. His write-up was completed in a couple of days without any follow-up being required."

OGV offers property condition assessments, due diligence, and existing conditions surveys. In addition to structural evaluations and investigations, as a Professional Structural Engineer License Holder (P.E.), we help and provide peer review, required documents, and permit inquiries for counties and local agencies.

"I had a great experience working with Omid Gharavi of OGV Structural Engineering for structural engineering permit services for my home in Baltimore. He was knowledgeable, professional, and easy to work with. The drawings he prepared and stamped, along with the engineering letter, were approved by the county without issue, allowing me to move forward with my home project. I truly appreciate his expertise and would highly recommend his services."

"Working with Zign Consulting has been the bright spot in an otherwise complex construction project. From the beginning, Zign Consulting was everything you hope for: honest, direct, highly capable, and urgent. After months of delays and complications caused by a previous architect, Zign Consulting stepped in and immediately brought clarity and direction. They swiftly got our plans completed and approved by DCRA—something the original architect struggled with for nearly a year. Their communication was transparent, their timelines were accurate, and their professionalism was unmatched. If you're looking for an architectural consultant who will advocate for your project and get things done the right way, Zign Consulting is the firm to hire. I can't recommend them enough."

"We needed a structural engineer to inspect the foundation of a home that we are purchasing and were recommended to contact Kemp. We are so glad that we did. Greg provided first class service. He was thorough and took the time to explain each step that he was taking, the purpose behind it, the potential results and what each could mean, and finally the actual results. He also took the time to educate us on some of the basic indicators of good and deficient or damaged home foundations. He was very personable and is great at making complex information simple enough for novices to understand. He also provided the inspection report almost immediately. We highly recommend Greg and his company’s services."

Super Service Award winner. We are a local business that originated in 2001 in Silver Spring, MD. Since then, our team of remodeling experts have been working non-stop around the DC-Metro area. Our number of employees depend on job type and size, averaging from around 3-7 employees working at a job site. We offer great prices and great payment plans! Money should never be an obstacle when you want your dream home.

"Victor Bernard and their team took on a complex double bathroom renovation project in a 100 year old row home and did excellent work addressing the many unexpected challenges as we proceeded with demo, including rebuilding floor joists inappropriately damaged from a past renovation. While this of course made for a much longer project than planned, the quality of work was excellent and we love our new bathrooms."

Richard's Tree Service does both residential and commercial work. Since 1996, our tree company has continued to provide the community with quality work done by people who care about there clients. Richard and Rock Berube have more than 55 years of combined industry experience. Richard's Tree Service is family owned and operated business. Our office is professionally staffed. We have established ongoing relationships with our clients and have a substantial amount of repeat business. We are bonded and insured!

"Richards tree service came and did a $500 tree trimming job and I know have $1200 in damages to my backyard. On Nov 28th. 2020 “Richard Tree Service” came to my house to trim a tree in the backyard. They trimmed the tree with a fence and raised bed directly under the tree branches. Large branches were not cut in small chunks, but large heavy branches were cut and fell 20+ feet. While the branches were falling on the fence, a post in the center of the fence broke as well as the raised bed. The fence is now leaning because of the broken post. I reached out to Richards Tree Service many times from Nov 29th, through Dec 9th and they mostly avoided my calls at that time. After Dec 9th they reached out and said they will not do anything to mitigate this issue. The fence needs to be repaired. They say they will not repair anything. I got a quote for the repair and its over $1200 because there is a nice raise bed also attached to the post. They have since said that the post has mold and was compromised before they trimmed. All the other posts are not compromised and have no mold, and it is not easy to see the raised bed wood. I also don’t agree that the broken post is moldy, its broken. They want me to pay the $1200 to have someone repair the fence and bed. They also stated they wanted to be there when I have MY fence repair person come pay… I don’t have $1200 to dish out just for them to later say “still not paying”. They have insurance but refuse to use it. I have tried contacting the insurance information but their provider never responds. Also, even with all of this happening I tried to pay my bill. Apparently to pay they wanted me to take down someone’s wife’s phone number to give her my credit card. I get it that this is a small business person who may be just contracted through Richards tree service, but its still unprofessional. I do not feel comfortable giving someone’s wife my credit card and will be trying to pay a different way. I also had someone else come out to look at their job. They left cut branches just sticking out. I am not sure why they didn’t cut from the base of other branches or the trunk. I am pretty sure those random branches will just get decay and potentially hurt the tree. The job does not look good, but hey the leaves are gone I guess? I have limited options to proceed, I cannot pay the $1200 for the repairs and Richards Tree Service says they won’t do anything on their side. 1. They should have trimmed the branches in smaller chunks. Not large ones that would drop on the fence. Make sure you have a video of their job if you go with them, and tell them to make smaller cuts. 2. They should use their insurance, if the insurance finds that my backyard is all moldy (which I do not see) then they won’t have to pay for it, this is why you have insurance. 3. They should improve their billing solution. Its 2020 and there are safer ways to pay online with proof of receipts."

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

Structural engineers draw structural plans, which include detailed drawings of the structural components of a home only. Complete house plans will require additional work from an architect or draftsperson, whose drawings will take the structural drawings into account. They’ll also include more details about the finishing materials and layout of a home, including everything from roofing and flooring materials to the position of furniture, light fixtures, switches, and plumbing fixtures.

If you intend to do the majority of the work yourself, you can pay to hire an architect or a structural engineer to ensure your home remains structurally sound. They can help with the planning to make sure everything is up to code and safe for your family. On the other hand, if you’re not sure your home will be completely safe when you’ve completed the project, let a pro do the job.

A construction manager is particularly useful in the case of a large-scale build with custom design elements, so it’s usually worth it to hire one. They can help manage your budget, maintain quality control, oversee timelines, and navigate unexpected hurdles. While construction managers are pricey, they can actually save money in the long run by identifying cost-saving opportunities and ensuring the project stays within budget.

Yes, water damage can affect your walls' structural integrity. If the water or moisture sits on the walls for an extended period, it can weaken the drywall, plaster, wood framing, and other materials supporting the wall. That's why it's critical to dry out the area as soon as you notice it.

Any issue that affects the structural integrity or soundness of a home is considered a structural issue. In addition to foundation cracks, other signs of structural issues include roof leaks, bowing walls, sloping floors, gaps around windows and doors, and more.
