"We had a large pine tree fall in our yard, and it was time to trim the other trees, so we purchased an Angies List deal, $1799 for 8 hours of tree service.  When the arborist came out to assess the work, my husband could readily tell that he knew what he was doing, unlike the last company we had hired.  The crew arrived on the agreed upon date and worked despite rainy weather, until it was too dangerous to continue.  They came back about a week later to finish their 8 hours.  They did a very good job.  We paid an extra $250 to have the stump of the fallen tree ground up.  We still have some trees that the crew was unable to get to during their time, but definitely plan on having them come back.

"I hired Baumann's Lawn and Landscape to fix my front lawn. The soil was mostly clay and sand and covered in weeds. They killed and removed all the vegetation, tilled the soil, brought in new topsoil, conditioned/fertilized, and then laid sod. The crew was fast, efficient, polite, and did an amazing job (hopefully this site allows me to upload photos after writing this). The work was done in 3 separate days and took less than 2 weeks from the initial phone call to the finished installation. The price is what you would expect for this level of work and that much sod (sod is not cheap). They're not over-priced but it's not Bob's discount landscaping either. Behnke's used to say, "Dig a $20 hole for a $10 plant," wider rather than deeper. He didn't really do that, but he did loosen the soil. While loosening roots of a nearby tree, they cut our FIOS cable, so we had no internet for a day. I blame both myself and him for not anticipating that possibility. In the end, it looked great, and the price was right."
