"I couldn't have asked for a better experience. They were hired to replace the main electrical panel/breakers at my elderly mother's home. Roni, the electrician, was a wonderful communicator, and was very knowledgeable and thorough in completing the job and in putting her at ease. The price was very reasonable. I will be using Nasr Electric in my own home, as well as recommending them to all my friends and family in the DMV area."

"It was very easy to work with Joe to finalize a quote and get the job scheduled. Once onsite, Carlos and his colleague knew exactly what to do and how to run the new electric circuit across the house from the electrical panel to the garage. The installed the EV charger we had purchased separately exactly how we wanted it. Everything worked perfectly. They even went the extra mile to come back and patch the garage drywall where they had made a few holes to run the cable even though it was not included in the job initially. Overall very happy with both the price we paid and the quality of the work. Will hire again for any electrical work we'll need."

Customers say: True professional

"We contacted Fox Electric about repairing/replacing a driveway lamp post that was in bad shape. We reached out and had an appointment booked immediately and they came out for a consult the next day. The service was fast, friendly and professional and our driveway lamp post was fully replaced within just a couple of days. It works great and the price was very reasonable for the job. We highly recommend this company and their work."

"On June 10, I had a company to install security equipment in my home. In doing so, the installer drilled through a wire and I did not have electricity in several outlets due to the damage. Since the company did not have an electrician on staff and was unable to refer me to anyone, I turned to Angie’s List for help in finding someone to correct the problem. I called Hands on Electric on June 11 and spoke to the owner, Kevin Williams. I explained my problem to Mr. Williams and he gave me a window of time in which he would be able to come out. Not only was he able to come out the same day that I called, but Mr. Williams was able to come much earlier than expected. Once he arrived he was able to trouble shoot and diagnose the problem. Mr. Williams was very, very friendly, professional and honest. He was able to answer my husband’s questions and explained what he was doing as he made the repairs. My husband was very happy about that and we were both impressed by the years of experience Mr. Williams had for his age. I have been looking for an electrician for a while now and have decided that I will be using Hands on Electric for all of my future projects. I was very pleased with the work that was done by Mr. Williams and will recommend him to my friends and family when they need of electrical services."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

For a safer, family-friendly home in Reston, install tamper-resistant outlets in all accessible areas and ensure GFCI protection in kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor spaces. Use AFCI breakers to help prevent electrical fires and consider smart switches with lockout features for utility rooms. Secure low-level wiring with protective covers to deter pets, and add motion-sensor lighting outdoors for extra safety in play areas and walkways.

Helpful?

To keep your Reston home’s electrical system in top shape, test GFCI outlets and surge protectors each spring, and inspect for moisture or pest issues after winter. In summer, check panels for signs of overheating, especially with increased AC use. Prepare for fall storms by testing emergency lighting and smoke detectors, and in winter, watch for ice-related damage or overloaded circuits from holiday decorations. Regular checks help prevent unexpected problems.

Helpful?

When planning electrical projects in Reston, consider the area’s detailed permitting and inspection process, as most electrical updates require approval. Many neighborhoods feature underground utility lines, so always confirm utility locations before digging. Homeowners’ associations often have specific guidelines for outdoor lighting, solar panels, and visible equipment. Given Reston’s humid climate, prioritize weatherproofing and GFCI protection, and consult your HOA for any architectural review steps before starting work.

Helpful?

The longevity of electrical work in Reston depends on using corrosion-resistant materials that withstand humidity and seasonal changes. Proper grounding and moisture sealing are essential due to frequent storms. Adhering to current electrical codes and completing all required inspections ensures lasting safety. Hiring professionals familiar with Reston’s unique climate and local requirements leads to installations that remain reliable and efficient over time.

Helpful?

When hiring electrical pros in Reston, prioritize those with proven experience navigating local permitting and code requirements. Request detailed written estimates and references from nearby homeowners to gauge reliability. Verify insurance coverage and review online feedback for reputation. Avoid contractors who ask for full payment upfront or offer unusually low rates. Choosing a pro familiar with Reston’s HOA rules and climate challenges ensures a smoother project experience.
