"I couldn't have asked for a better experience. They were hired to replace the main electrical panel/breakers at my elderly mother's home. Roni, the electrician, was a wonderful communicator, and was very knowledgeable and thorough in completing the job and in putting her at ease. The price was very reasonable. I will be using Nasr Electric in my own home, as well as recommending them to all my friends and family in the DMV area."

"not just professional efficient! Unbelievably fair priced literally less than half of what a major competitor on this site quoted using my own parts and my own wire! Just because there are any energy list doesn’t mean some people won’t try and rip you off and fools will pay it. Mr. NAGY is a professional and very ethical. I’d recommend hiring him again and again!"

"How did it go? Not well. I finally just bought the required ladder at 200 USD and did not pursue Kolb Electric further. I should have just bought the ladder in the first place. Live and learn."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

To ensure your electrical project in Sterling runs smoothly, start by confirming all necessary permits are in place before work begins. Choose a contractor familiar with Sterling’s code and inspection process, especially for homes in older neighborhoods or historic districts. Plan for possible utility interruptions, coordinate schedules with your contractor, and always confirm underground lines are marked before any outdoor digging or trenching.

Helpful?

In Sterling, simple electrical permits are often approved within a few days, while more complex projects may take up to two weeks for approval. Panel upgrades usually require one to two days for installation, with inspections typically scheduled within a week. Whole-house rewiring in average-sized homes can take three to five days. Project timelines may vary based on contractor availability, weather, and material supply.

Helpful?

If your Sterling home was built before 1990, still has original wiring, or uses a fuse box, it’s a good time to consider electrical upgrades. Frequent breaker trips, adding major appliances, or relying on extension cords are also signs. Look for two-prong outlets, aluminum wiring, or knob-and-tube systems. Many homeowners schedule outdoor projects in spring or fall and indoor upgrades during winter.

Helpful?

Common mistakes in Sterling include skipping required permits, attempting DIY work on electrical panels, and incorrectly installing GFCI outlets. Homeowners often underestimate the complexity of upgrades in homes built from the 1960s to 1980s. Hiring contractors without verifying local experience or proper licensing, and not planning for necessary system upgrades, can also lead to costly delays and failed inspections.

Helpful?

In Sterling, signs like flickering lights, frequent breaker trips, burning smells at outlets, or warm outlet covers usually mean you need electrical work. If the issue is isolated to a single appliance or bulb, check those first. For widespread outages, contact your utility provider. Any concerns with your main panel or exterior wiring should prompt a call to a local electrical professional.
