"Two workmen showed up at the designated time and installed 'in wall' electrical for undercabinet lighting in the wall along with trouble shooting additional 3-way light switches, dimmers, and USB outlets. Work was fast, efficient, and professionally done within the allotted time. Would definitely recommend and will use Nasr Electrical again in the future."

"It was very easy to work with Joe to finalize a quote and get the job scheduled. Once onsite, Carlos and his colleague knew exactly what to do and how to run the new electric circuit across the house from the electrical panel to the garage. The installed the EV charger we had purchased separately exactly how we wanted it. Everything worked perfectly. They even went the extra mile to come back and patch the garage drywall where they had made a few holes to run the cable even though it was not included in the job initially. Overall very happy with both the price we paid and the quality of the work. Will hire again for any electrical work we'll need."

"This company resolved my electrical issue quickly and professionally. The technician was knowledgeable and clearly explained what was wrong and how they fixed it. I was expecting a longer wait, so I was grateful they could get to me so soon. Pricing was fair and the whole experience was excellent. I def highly recommend this company to anyone needing electrical work done. Thank you!!!"

"On June 10, I had a company to install security equipment in my home. In doing so, the installer drilled through a wire and I did not have electricity in several outlets due to the damage. Since the company did not have an electrician on staff and was unable to refer me to anyone, I turned to Angie’s List for help in finding someone to correct the problem. I called Hands on Electric on June 11 and spoke to the owner, Kevin Williams. I explained my problem to Mr. Williams and he gave me a window of time in which he would be able to come out. Not only was he able to come out the same day that I called, but Mr. Williams was able to come much earlier than expected. Once he arrived he was able to trouble shoot and diagnose the problem. Mr. Williams was very, very friendly, professional and honest. He was able to answer my husband’s questions and explained what he was doing as he made the repairs. My husband was very happy about that and we were both impressed by the years of experience Mr. Williams had for his age. I have been looking for an electrician for a while now and have decided that I will be using Hands on Electric for all of my future projects. I was very pleased with the work that was done by Mr. Williams and will recommend him to my friends and family when they are in need of electrical services."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Homeowners in Annandale, VA often skip required permits or attempt DIY electrical upgrades beyond their skill level, risking safety and code violations. Overlooking updated GFCI and AFCI requirements is common, especially in older homes. Failing to weatherproof outdoor outlets or neglecting surge protection before storm season can lead to electrical hazards. Always consult a licensed professional for complex electrical work to ensure home electrical safety.

Helpful?

For basic electrical maintenance in Annandale, VA, keep a non-contact voltage tester, insulated screwdrivers, wire strippers, and a bright flashlight. Stock GFCI and tamper-resistant outlets, wire nuts, and weather-resistant electrical tape for Virginia’s temperature swings. Spare AFCI breakers are useful, especially in older homes. Local hardware stores typically carry these supplies, helping you handle minor electrical repairs and maintain home electrical safety year-round.

Helpful?

In Annandale, VA, you can safely reset tripped circuit breakers or GFCI outlets and replace light bulbs or faceplates—always after shutting off power at the breaker panel. Use a non-contact voltage tester to confirm circuits are de-energized. Avoid working in damp conditions, which are common during humid months. For panel upgrades, new circuits, or aluminum wiring, contact a local electrical contractor for safe, code-compliant repairs.

Helpful?

When hiring electrical contractors in Annandale, VA, prioritize those familiar with the area’s older home wiring and local permit requirements. Look for professionals with strong insurance coverage and a solid reputation—ask neighbors or check local online reviews for feedback. Confirm their availability, as reputable pros in Annandale often book out in advance. Choose someone who communicates clearly about timelines and safety standards for home electrical projects.

Helpful?

Annandale’s humid summers and freeze-thaw winters can cause moisture damage and shifting underground lines, affecting electrical systems. Outdoor electrical installations require weatherproofing, and surge protection is vital due to frequent thunderstorms. Homes near flood-prone areas like Holmes Run benefit from extra GFCI outlets. Schedule major electrical projects in spring or fall, when milder weather makes it easier for electrical contractors to work safely and efficiently.
