"Dan of Restoration 1 in Denton & Frisco was wonderful! He responded immediately to my call and got to my house very quickly. Dan was able to assess the mold I found in a closet and diagnosed that it was from a leak. He recommended an amazing plumber who also showed up immediately and was able to stop the leak, ensuring no further damage. Once the leak was fixed, Dan from R1DF was great about explaining everything for mitigating the water damage and making sure mold didn't spread. My husband and I couldn't be happier with Dan's quick action and communication. While we don't wish to ever have water damage again, we'd certainly call Dan if we did! Highly recommended!"

"Kevin recommended a less extreme and less costly remedy for my foundation issue than another company. I appreciate his honesty and trust His experience. Office person very friendly and patient with my many questions. The crew was quick, friendly, and cleaned up as if they had never been there. A1 is A1 !!"

"We contacted Callahan for repairing our bathroom which was in bad shape. Callahan gave a quote for reasonable price and assisted us in picking the correct materials for bathroom and did the work very well. We were quite impressed with him and so when a airconditioning unit stopped working we approached him and he gladly helped us to fix the unit. So far everything is functioning well in our home and Callaham would also do a free inspection in March of all the work he did. I would strongly recommend Callahan for any work."

"On my first inquiry I didn’t get a prompt response, but after having a home for 15 years and looking for various contractors this wasn’t exactly news. My second inquiry did receive a response with an apology and a day and time for an initial assessment. Wonder of wonders, someone showed up. Turns out he was what I think I remember is half owner of the company, Landry was the name if I remember correctly. Not a people kinda guy, more of a “let me measure everything and then I’ll deal with your inane questions” kind of guy. Waited for a quote for a week I think, sent an email asking about the quote and received an apology for the lateness and the quote. Wasn’t the cheapest I had received, wasn’t the most expensive. Hired. Their work was well beyond expectations. The job came in a little later than expected, about 3 days or so, but there are always unforeseen issues in a full kitchen remodel. Jackie, Carlos, and Jared were always responsive to all questions concerns and available with suggestions throughout the process. Any conflicts in scheduling of work to be done by their crew or subcontractors we were notified immediately, and I can’t express my appreciation for this enough. I highly recommend this company and plan to call them again on my next project."

"This is the second project Walter has done for us. (He previously painted all exterior trim.) He is one of the most caring contractors we've ever worked with. He squeezed in our job among others, coming and going within a reasonable amount of time. He's extremely personable, charges fair prices and his work is top notch."

"Went well - everything is looking great as it’s being finished, and Tim brought in another expert for part of the ceiling patch/repair to result in the most professional looking job. Older leak above apparently resulted in some mold growth between top floor and ceiling, so they had to tear it open, test, spray anti-microbial, then patch with drywall, texture, paint. Nice guys, and would recommend."

Mold Testing and Remediation questions, answered by experts

Toxic mold doesn't have a specific color; instead, toxicity depends on the type of mold and the mycotoxins it produces. Stachybotrys chartarum (also known as black mold) is notorious for its potential toxicity. However, not all molds appearing black are Stachybotrys chartarum. Mold species that appear in various colors, such as green, gray, brown, or black, can also produce mycotoxins. Therefore, it's essential to focus on identifying the type of mold through professional testing rather than relying solely on color to determine its toxicity.

Yes, mold can grow on virtually any porous material, including plaster, and can be a pain to get rid of. If you see any signs of mold or mildew growth, call a local mold inspection company to take a look—mold is a health hazard and can spread quickly to other parts of your home.

Hazardous waste is waste that poses a threat to human or environmental health. This generally refers to waste that is flammable, corrosive, toxic, or reactive. To confirm if the waste you need to remove is considered hazardous waste, contact your local hazardous waste facility.

A professional indoor air quality inspection takes anywhere from one to three hours, depending on the size of your home and the number of necessary samples. After the test, the specialist will discuss the findings, but you won’t get a full written report for 2 to 10 days, though you can ask your pro to expedite the process, if needed.

If you can locate building records, you may be able simply to see what type of tiles (or bonding agent) was used. Any flooring made between 1950 and 1989 more than likely contains asbestos. Asbestos tiles can also be slightly thicker than other tiles and often measure 9” x 9”, 12” x 12”, and 18” x 18. Black mastic was a commonly used adhesive that contains asbestos.
