"Last summer, even with the AC running constantly and the thermostat set at 72 degrees, the temperature inside the house would reach 80 degrees or higher. This summer is much better; the thermostat is set to 70 degrees, and the house actually stays at 70. Our electric bills are also reflecting this improved energy efficiency. Thank you Dillon, NxT Level Insulation for the outstanding work and exceptional customer service."

"Two installers arrived on time and insulated appx. 1750 sq ft of fiberglass insulation. It took about an hour and a half. I had no complaints. Shout out to Christy in the office who came to my house during her lunch break to collect signed contract because I could not figure how to send it to her over the internet."

"My 1950, 860 ft house had 20+ yr old dusty, pink insulation, that was even worse after the city revamped utility vaults & pushed rats into the neighborhood. I chose S.R Insulation to vacuum out, caulk open voids, and re-blow insulation. The owner set up an appointment quickly. On the day of service, he did call 15 minutes late to advise of an issue. The 3 person team arrived within an hour, set up the vacuum and bags, then removed insulation; original, wood-shingle slips; and ducting left by A/C techs. They worked between 3 to 4 hours and said they would return next business day. The two part installation, gave me an idea - I asked for an extension, so I could repair ceiling sheet rock while the attic was void. The owner agreed. He did not require partial payment. Three weeks later, I rescheduled. The install was even quicker, filling up to the stud height in white, blown insulation. He leaves behind a cardboard measuring stick to show you. The difference inside the house was immediate. I will not provide calculations, as I added front load washer/dryer to the electric usage at this same time. Later, I found my stove top vent fan blocked. I was able to pull out material from the duct, and the fan worked. Therefore I did not call the owner about this. I paid less than $1500, and thought it fair. I would use S.R. Insulation again and recommend them."

"They were great. I hired them to remove old insulation and install new insulation. They discovered serious issues with my a/c duct work. They rearranged their schedule to come back and make repairs to the ducts. They were lifesavers."

"Our experience with Affordable Siding was a very positive one from start to finish. Jessie, the owner, does not use "high-pressure" sales tactics and we were always very comfortable discussing and planning the project with him. He was great at answering all of our questions, addressing any concerns we may have had before the project began and he kept us updated and informed throughout the process. The work performed on our home by Jessie and his team was nothing short of OUTSTANDING! They go above and beyond what is in the basic contractor agreement because they take a great deal of pride in the quality of their work. The job they did on our home exceeded our expectations and we HIGHLY RECOMMEND Affordable Siding to anyone who is in the market for new siding for their home."

"Understandably their schedule was booked solid, given the heat we've had lately. We were patient and waited a few days past what we were originally told to get a technician to visit. Upon his visit, we decided to take his recommendation to hook up an upstairs bedroom vent to the downstairs AC unit, to reduce the temp of the room. The technician scheduled us for later that week to do the work, we paid for the service call, and he left. I got a call a few days later from a rep who said the technician didn't realize he was off that day... she wanted to know if i wanted to call him in on his day off or reschedule. Talk about awkward - i wish they didn't put that kind of pressure on the customer. Obviously, we rescheduled to accommodate the day off. The technician was delayed in coming out to do the work, but got there and quickly installed the new ductwork. But he cut the drywall too big, and needed a new vent opening to cover the botched job. We told him to come back sometime that day or the day after to finish the job, understanding that stuff happens sometimes. We had already pre-paid for the work, so he left. The job was done on Friday evening, and we still haven't heard from anyone from the company. I just spoke with someone from customer service, and was told that it was safest to call back in the morning to "remind them" to come by and finish what we paid for. Given how many HVAC companies are in the area, the work and the professionalism weren't worth the hassle. We'll be looking for a new company to work with for replacing some of the downstairs ductwork, adding a new vent/new return downstairs, and purchasing two new AC units to replace our old ones. Lots of business to lose out on for no good reason."

"On the shower, They made it easy on me and did a great job. Owner is great to work with. On air conditioning, I had 4 other companies come out to look at my unit that was running constantly and not cooling well. They charged me for wrong issues and didn’t fix it. Mr Callahan immediately figured out that the company that installed the new unit put in a valve backwards. I highly recommend them for air conditioning work. I will use them from now on."

"I cannot complain about anything. They were prompt with my response to schedule the appointment, and arrived exactly as scheduled. Replacing the new entry door and screen door was challenging and took longer than expected. However, they didn't charge me extra for the extended time it took. Because it started to get dark, they came back the next day to finish. In addition, they even worked through the rain which made matters even more difficult. After everything leveled out, they did an excellent job. I do appreciate their recommendation and installation of exterior rot-resistant trim. I could not have asked for better service, patience, and determination. I would absolutely request their services again."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

You can paint over plaster, but repair any damage to the plaster first, or the paint will crack and bubble. You should also prepare the surface of the plaster to accept paint, which gives your paint job the best chance of looking good and lasting a long time. Before applying the color you want, apply a coat or two of primer. Additionally, use latex paint, and choose a latex paint with a satin finish for areas with dampness, like bathrooms.

Yes, it is possible to rewire a house without removing the drywall, but this doesn’t work in all homes. You can pull out old wires and insert new ones if you have access to the wiring system via the ceiling or through a crawl space. Some pros can also use a magnetic kit to fish the old wire out of the wall through a hole cavity and install the new wires. Just keep in mind that doing this is less stable than removing drywall, as you won’t be able to staple the wires into the framing.

The easiest way to cut holes in drywall for electrical boxes is to use a spiral saw with a drywall router bit. Hang the drywall without cutting out a hole for the box, but make sure you measure and mark where the box is located on the wall. Once you screw in the drywall sheet, drill a small hole into the box void, insert the spiral saw bit, and move it around the edge of the box using the inside wall as a guide. You can also use an oscillating multi-tool with an electrical box cutout for fast, professional results.

The easiest way to tell if a wall is load bearing is to check if it’s an exterior wall or if it runs perpendicular to the joists above and below it (or parallel to beams). Exterior walls are almost always load-bearing, and walls that run under beams or parallel to them are also usually load-bearing. There are exceptions to these rules, and walls that don’t fit into these categories can still be load-bearing. If you’re unsure, hire a structural engineer to look at your home to assess whether or not the wall is structural.

Very little. One inch of water can stain walls, warp wood, and create a perfect environment for mold growth. One to two inches of water can do significant damage to drywall, insulation, and electrical systems. Anything over that is considered an extensive flood, often resulting in severe structural damage.
