Eustilus Architecture

I have dealt with many architects before and gotten what I thought was good service. However after dealing with Eustilus Architecture I now have a new bar by which to judge others. Whether it be dealing with me on my time frame, which was late at night lots of time due to my work schedule, or taking phone calls out of the blue because I had a sudden inspiration. Or dealing with my general contractor and making sure everything is being built to exact specifications, and on time, Eustilus Architecture has gone beyond what most people would even be willing to think of doing and they did it all with a smile on their face. My new home is almost complete and I wouldn t have been able to do it without them. And on top of all of that they can design ANYTHING! They designed my home with a pool on the roof! They dealt with my GC, concrete companies, structural engineering, the office of zoning, I mean everybody. I guess the best way to sum this up is that they have been so involved and helpful and professional that now my oldest daughter wants to become an architect. I m not sure there is a greater compliment that I could pay them then to know they influenced her.

I had the pleasure of working with Eustilus earlier this year as I embarked on a home kitchen renovation. I came across the company after submitting a job request on HomeAdvisor. I had never done this before, but decided to try my luck because I needed an architect, but didnâ t know any off hand. I was also looking for a streamlined way to reach out to multiple professionals at once. Eric Teran, the owner and Principal at Eustilus, responded almost immediately. I was surprised to get his call and had to make sure I understood why he was calling. I was able to describe my project to Eric and my timeline, which was quite aggressive. I also shared my budget and the particulars. His initial response set the tone for our interaction throughout the process: Quick to respond, thoughtful with communication, extremely knowledgeable, comfortable with technology, and he always managed my expectations. Our initial project timeline was approximately 5 weeks and knowing this, Eric was very mindful of how we needed to move and let me know that the decision-making process would have to be quick. Being a working family with two parents and two kids under the age of 5 resonated with Eric and he was willing to make himself available after hours for conference calls, emails and/or quick chats about pending design direction and decisions. Eric immediately sent me a list of references to help in my decision-making process without me having to ask. He operated with full transparency through the entire process. Eric requested and reviewed numerous pictures of my home exterior and the interior space to be renovated. He also came out to take measurements. He only required our presence to be let into the home, but we were able to continue whatever we were doing while he gathered the information that he needed. Based on our planned design, Eric also knew that he would need to employ a Structural Engineer for review, inspection and sign-off on the plans. This was not someone that we needed to find. He already had that contact information. Eric was also able to pull the permits that we needed which was also saved us time and gave us peace of mind. We shared our vision for our kitchen with Eric based on what we thought we wanted at the time and how we needed/wanted to be able to utilize the space. Eric listened and understood completely. That being said, what of the best things that Eric provided was access to virtual reality. He brought the VR goggles to us outfitted with each of our design options. WOW! This was our first time using VR and it made all of the difference and actually led us to make a different design choice once we were actually able to see and be in the space. Our original design wouldnâ t work and even though Eric kind of eluded to that, we had our â aha momentâ in VR. Again, this saved time and ultimately money and eliminated a lot of unnecessary back and forth. If you are looking for a talented, knowledgeable, intuitive, timely, and wholly competent architect that can turn your ideas into reality, then Eustilus and Eric Teran are the right choice. Eric has remained in contact throughout this process. I hope to have the opportunity to work with Eric again.

Eric is absolutely fabulous as an architect and person; a gem in the market. From our first meeting, he was an attentive listener and contributor, immediately considering ways to match my preferences with constraints in creative, cost-effective ways. He is well versed, honest, has a great knowledge base of related industries, and thereby able to recommend others just as experienced, reliable, and fair. Eric has been masterful at meeting me at my idea and taking it to heights previously unexplored. For instance, originally I was dead set on the design of a full single-home renovation. We recently completed the design of a two-unit that much better meets my needs. His evidence-based rationales and professionalism were impeccable. He helped to maintain the pace of the project, even when my schedule became erratic. I highly recommend Eric and Eustilus Architecture for remembering all sides of the art.

Originally I wanted to hire an architect who specialized in my neighborhood. I interviewed several. I am so glad to have broaden my search and hired Eustilus. Eric was the most enthused architect I interviewed. His suggestions were superior to the cookie cutter plans I received from others. His recommendations were affordable, practical and innovative. Eric also drew plans to accommodate future renovations. Eric has a wealth of architectural experience having worked for larger corporations. Now with his own firm he has maintained good contacts with engineers and people who grant the permits. I had chosen my general contractor before selecting Eustilus as my architect. Eric and my contractor worked very well together even though it was the first time they worked together. My renovation involved digging out the basement, dry proofing, new slab, new sound proofed ceiling with automatic sprinklers, relocating the bathroom and mechanical room, putting in a kitchen, bedroom, laundry room, living area and new stairs. We are very pleased with the results and our neighbors with similar floor plans have commented how well laid out everything is. We have Eric to thank for that. Eric s bid was the most competitive, but it was his enthusiasm that got him the job.

This company has been amazing. They took on my complicated conversion of my single family home into a two unit home and have always been prompt, communicative, strategic and honest with me, at a very reasonable price. Extremely patient, and professional and also cunning in how they deal with the frustrating bureaucrats approving permits. I would recommend them to anyone who needs an architect, particularly for a complicated project with bureaucratic challenges!

Eric went the extra mile(s) to make sure my project met the proper requirements needed to get my project on the way.

Eric is a wonderful architect and a great guy. He is professional, timely and innovative. Of the professionals recommended for our project by Home Advisor, he was the first to respond and schedule a meeting. (We met with several but only three from HomeAdvisor). This is a busy time for construction in the District. One of the other architects/designers had us wait a full month just for a preliminary meeting. Eric made the process easy. He listened to us and then developed a way to turn our house into our home. Throughout the process we were consulted and informed. We are sure that we received value for his pricing. His plans match our needs and we have the building permit in hand. We look forward to watching his vision and our dream come to fruition. Our next step is the construction. God, please give us strength.

Eric is awesome! He took the tume to work with me even while he was away in vacation. Upon his return he assisted me in getting through what can be a grueling process obtaining my builders permit. Can t say thank you enough!

I’m so glad I found Eric. Eric is extremely knowledgeable, professional, responsive and easy to work with. We got our plans done with Eric within a short period of time. He also has a good crew of engineers to help complete the project faster. I normally don’t do review unless the service is above and beyond or so poor. I highly recommend Eric. Thanks Home advisor.
