"Wilbers Painting company did an excellent job painting my gutters/downspouts and trim around my front door. I also had my front door stained which did not come out to my satisfaction the first time and I showed Wilber a picture of the door and he came back and re-sanded the door and re-stained it. It is beautiful now. Wilber stands behind his work. I would definitely hire his company again for future painting projects. Wilber and his staff were very professional and courteous. M. CASEY"

"This was a very long process but the painters went from step to step and got the job done.  Needless to say, with all of the sanding it was a messy process.  They used fans to keep the primer smell down.  We were happy with the finished product.  They cleaned up pretty well, but a problem was that they didn't cover the wall cabinets with plastic like they did on the counters and the dust just covered everything the more we looked we more white dust we found even into the dining room.  I told Jeff about this problem and he sent 3 maids over to clean the kitchen and dining room!  They did a great job and the kitchen and dining room were just spotless.  Jeff gives the best customer service I've ever had.  He talked to us before, during and after the job.  I think you would be hard pressed to find a company that goes the extra mile to make a job perfect.  I'll recommend him to everybody I know. Its nice to know that there are companies out there who really want to give good customer service.  If you want the job done right get Merrified Paint and Design!

"Mr. Mendez was very professional. He gave me a detailed quote, always came to meet me when he said he would, he and his team were great, the job was finished quickly, and the house looks fantastic. We have already asked him to give us a quote for interior painting, I would highly recommend him. We live in Arlington, our front porch and back deck railing was rotting, a good deal of trim was also rotting in various places around the house (windows, doors, pillars all had pieces that needed replacing), paint was peeling, and there was some brick work that needed some repairs. He and his guys power washed the house, cleaned the gutters, scraped, painted, replaced trim, completely rebuilt deck railings, rewrapped pillars/posts, and painted the brick, rails, and trim. Very well done and reasonably priced."

"We hired Edward and his team to repair our deck, essentially removing the old wood boards and replacing them with Trex composite. He was very accommodating with our schedule and returned all phone calls promptly. The team worked efficiently and the deck looks beautiful. It was a pleasure working with Edward and his team."

"It took a couple of days to complete because there were a lot of cabinet doors and drawers and the winter weather was not cooperating, but they were able to complete the job and it looks great. The finish came out very well, my guests were surprised when I told them it was spray painted, it looks like a factory finish. A two man team did the job and they arrived on time and left the area clean every day. I provided my own paint from Benjamin Moore."

"I was quite pleased. Leal's team carefully selected the best board face to be up; aligned the boards and screws with exacting precision, and dealt nicely with the out-of-square nature of the deck frame. The workmanship is on the order of furniture-making quality. They took their time to do it right, and were very pleasant to work with."

"I highly recommend Emerald Painting. Roland was incredibly responsive and helpful with suggestions. His crew was professional, efficient, and skilled. We love the finished product - new exterior paint on a brick row house, repaired and painted concrete steps and porch, painted steel rail, and stained wooden deck. I will hire Roland and Emerald Painting for all similar future projects."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Limewash and whitewash do not harm surfaces if you apply them correctly. Use on non-suitable surfaces can cause issues. For instance, applying limewash or whitewash to surfaces with existing sealants or incompatible materials may lead to poor adhesion or flaking. Also, harsh cleaning agents on limewashed or whitewashed surfaces can damage the finish. Proper preparation, application, and maintenance ensure that limewash and whitewash do not harm surfaces.

You’ll need to wait until the surface is completely dry, which can take anywhere from 24 to 48 hours under optimal conditions. The waiting period depends on several factors, including the type of siding and the weather conditions. Trying to paint before the surface is completely dry can trap moisture under the paint, leading to bubbling, blistering, and mold growth.

Whether you can paint over your existing paint depends on what’s on there. Most of the time, you’ll want to sand down or scrape off the paint that’s currently coating your surface. Epoxy paint, for example, won’t let new paint stick to the surface. Latex paint is more forgiving and will accept a new coat, but a primer is recommended if you’re switching colors.

The best exterior paint for the job of painting your front porch depends on the material you’ll be painting. Acrylic paint is often recommended for a wooden porch as it’s durable and easy to apply. If your porch is made of concrete, you’ll need to find a formula suited to that material.

Painted decks typically require a new coat about once every ten years. In between new coats, it's best to maintain your deck by regularly removing debris, washing it down with non-abrasive cleaners, and staying ahead of structural issues, such as loose boards and rotting wood. In some cases, painting a small section of your deck affected by damage or the sun can lower your costs and workload.
