"We originally had this company trim these trees in 2011.  Bad weather caused the work to be delayed, but the crew arrived and completed the trimming in the afternoon of the scheduled day.  They removed the mistletoe from the Cedar Elm and trimmed branches that were growing into the Live Oak.  They raised the canopy of the Live Oak to allow light to reach the lawn.  They thinned the Youpon Holly.  The work crew was very efficient, completed the job quickly, and cleaned up and shredded all the branches and leaves.

"John with Illuminart was a pleasure to deal with. He was prompt with his estimate. He was very competitive. He made several suggestions to keep the price of the project LOW. Most importantly - Illuminart - lived up to their name. The placement of lights gives the house a great street view. And more importantly - the downlights in the trees gives a great picture on the lawn. Absolutely worth every penny spent! Highly recommend and will use Illuminart in the future."

"Make sure you verify where light fixtures are being placed, charged 150 (set charge that also went against my allotted hours not incremental) to install an additional 2x4 brace for dinning room chandelier. High mark-up on outlets so if you might have bad ones pre-buy. Pre-buy before install as much as possible even if you think you don't need, this avoids inflated part cost."

"My husband and I had been looking to add landscape lighting when we were referred to Dallas Night Lights. We were impressed with the prompt reply, and set an appointment for the next Monday. The owner, Ben Barbo, listened to our ideas, and was able to expand on those and created an amazing look for our home. After a concept was agreed upon, Dallas Night Lights came in and completed the job in a timely manner. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Definitely would recommend."

"A construction project had someone disrupted electrical service in a bedroom. I needed someone who could locate the broken line and repair it. Several power outlets and light fixtures were affected. The electrician came with the right tool for the job: A signal generator and tone detector, and the know-how to use them to sense where the broken wire is in the wall. After investigating, the broken wire was located, but due to its placement in the wall, it would be very difficult to reach it and repair or replace it. Fortunately this electrician is both experienced and creative. He noticed that part of the broken circuit passes right by an appliance circuit in my kitchen, used for the garbage disposal. By disconnecting the broken wire and just leaving it dead in the wall, he was able to resplice the unpowered segment onto the kitchen circuit instead. Now the outlets and lights are on a different circuit breaker, but the circuit is rated fine for the purpose, and it shouldn't cause me any future problems. Plus, he was able to perform the splice without even needing to break into any walls, saving me the cost of repairing them. All in all, I'm very impressed!"

Lighting questions, answered by experts

Your maintenance needs revolve around the type of foundation you choose, as well as how you furnish or decorate it. Patios require little else other than the occasional hose-down, but decks and other wooden structures will require annual power washing and sealing. You may also need to restain the wood every two to three years.

Adding a solid roof rather than building a pergola or leaving the space open will make maintenance much easier. Without a roof, you will need to spend more time sweeping, washing, and covering your furniture to protect it from UV bleaching.

The easiest and best way to power your outdoor lights is with the use of outdoor outlets. Most building codes now require exterior outlets in homes, so you likely already have outdoor outlets available to plug into. However, you can have these outlets installed if your space doesn’t currently include them.

Outdoor lighting enhances security, improves curb appeal, and extends the usability of outdoor spaces.

Yes, animals can trigger motion-sensor lights. In fact, this is a reason why some homeowners install motion-sensor lights, to catch sneaky little critters looking through the rubbish for a midnight snack. There are sensitivities to animal detection though, so you may want to look for an option that avoids animal detection as much as possible.

It’s fair to be concerned about handling pool lights or wiring in a pool filled with water. But fortunately, pool lights and swimming pools are designed to make it easy and safe to replace the lights without needing to drain the water. Instead, you can turn off the electricity to the pool as a safety precaution, unscrew the pool fixture, pull it up and out to the side of the pool, then change the bulb.
