"Work went well and was done quickly. They even worked around a few unexpected issues while replacing the electrical panel. They did leave behind a little bit of drywall residue but was easy enough to clean up."

"I called Mr. Electric to tackle a list of varied electrical jobs at our home- installing ceiling fans, changing out light fixtures, and adding dimmer switches to name a few. They went above and beyond on each task with great attention to detail. Very easy to communicate with. I highly recommend Mr. Electric!"

"I have used a company called Trident Electric after my experience with them in July last year and they were great. It went superb. They are on time. They are great. They are polite. They know what they are doing. They work to code. I would recommend them to others, I would say, 'just hire them'. Overall I would like to grade them 3 A pluses if I could. The quality is certainly an 'A'. The responsiveness is certainly an 'A'. The punctuality is always an 'A'. The professionalism is always an 'A'. "

"Brad listened to what I wanted done and delivered. He even saw a need and suggested a receptacle over a work station that I did not think of and that receptacle has been so convenient. His work was neat and clean with safety a priority. He enclosed all wire in conduit and placed it in the ceiling. He left the area clean, free of electrical debris. Oh yes I definitely plan to call R&W Electric for any future needs."
Removed switch and outlets on this wall
The original kitchen before cabinet demolition. We moved the hood and range outlet and changed the outlet locations for the countertop height outlets.
We changed the location of the outlets and added under-cabinet lighting
All the wiring was removed from this wall.

"Precision was quick to schedule, and quick to fix the issues I was having with outlets and switches at my home in Summerville, and a few lighting issues I had at my office. On a busy holiday weekend, I didn't expect my requests to be fulfilled quickly, and all issues were resolved within 24 hours of my initial call to them. Victor is an outstanding electrical service professional, and I highly recommend to anyone in the Charleston area that is troubleshooting electrical issues. Thanks Precision!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In the majority of cases, you can replace an outlet with a USB outlet. USB charging receptacles install in the same spot as standard outlets and any electrician worth their salt is more than familiar with the replacement process. Additionally, it’s possible to replace yourself, but only if you have prior experience with your home’s electrical system, as it requires handling of wires.

To avoid drilling into wire, you will need to trace your home's wiring using a stud finder, wire detector, circuit tracer, or voltage finder. Since locating wires in your home can be difficult for some homeowners, hire a professional electrician with the experience and knowledge needed to safely handle electrical systems before drilling into any walls in your home.

A C-wire connects your thermostat to your household heating and cooling system to provide continuous 24V power. The furnace's transformer converts household electrical current into this low-voltage power to operate the HVAC system's circuitry. In most configurations, the C-wire connects to the terminals labeled "C" on both the furnace's low-voltage terminal block and the thermostat. In some cases, if a dedicated C terminal is unavailable, the C-wire can be connected to the "G" (fan) terminal at the furnace.

Yes. You should always turn off the power to the work area before beginning, use a voltage tester to ensure it’s off, and wear protective gear, such as insulated gloves or safety glasses, to prevent risk of injury. Proper wiring and grounding techniques are also necessary to make sure the job is done right the first time and won’t harm any future homeowners.

You don’t need an electrician to change an outlet—but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t hire one. Working with electricity can be dangerous, not only for you but also for your home and the members of your household. There’s the risk of electrocution, poor wiring burnout, and electrical fire. When you hire a licensed electrician, you’ll have peace of mind knowing that your electrical outlets are installed correctly and up to code.
