"Cannot recommend Aspen Fencing enough! They worked with our HOA, pulled the necessary permits with the city, and built the most beautiful wood picket fence. Brien (owner) shared design ideas that we hadn’t thought of and we could not be happier with the finished product! The installers were so nice and polite. Highly recommend Aspen!"

"We hired Chris and his team to fence in our 8 acres for our horses where we previously just had hot wire and they kept getting out. Chris and his team were super professional. They came out for a consult and showed up the first day on the job and on time which is rare in our town. They cleaned up at the end of each day and always made sure my horses were safe and secure while removing the old fencing. Throughout the whole process, Chris kept us up to date with progress, they even finished ahead of schedule!! It's been a few years and we are still getting compliments on the fence. We refer Chris all the time to anyone with fencing needs."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Proper installation can make a big difference in your fence's maintenance needs. For example, wood fences that aren't installed correctly can be more likely to rot. While it's possible to DIY a fence installation, hiring a local fence company can mean much less work for you in the long run.

A professional fence installer will make sure your fence is positioned correctly and installed in a way that ensures longevity and limited upkeep requirements.

While there’s no hard evidence to support this idea, driveway gates at least provide an additional obstacle that may deter crime. After all, a would-be burglar or trespasser would have to break into the gate and the property itself. The extra work could encourage them to move onto a house without a driveway gate.

You can weather a new wood fence by applying vinegar with steel wool as a way to fade some of the coloring. You may also find it easier to stain your entire fence a new color instead of trying to get newer fence boards to match an older one.

The lifespan of a picket fence largely depends on its material. Wooden picket fences typically last 10 to 15 years with regular maintenance, while vinyl and composite picket fences can last 20 to 30 years or more due to their resistance to weather, rot, and pests. Metal picket fences often exceed 30 years, especially when properly coated to prevent rust or corrosion.

A wrought iron fence is generally considered a worthwhile investment, provided the cost fits your budget and its characteristics meet your needs. While it is an expensive material, its exceptional durability and longevity mean you can save money over time by not having to replace it.

Key benefits include:

  • Durability and Security: Wrought iron is strong and provides excellent security for your home.

  • Longevity: With proper maintenance, it can last a lifetime or longer.

  • Aesthetics: It offers a classy, timeless, and elegant look that can boost your home's curb appeal and property value, especially when complementing brick or stone architecture.

However, it's important to note that wrought iron fencing does not offer much privacy. If professionally installed and maintained, it is a sound long-term investment.
