After being told by family how good Charleston Electric was, maybe I just had high hopes. I requested a quote for a 200amp panel upgrade and Chris came out as scheduled and was very friendly and personable. He told me he'd have a quote to me within a couple days. 2 days passed with no update so I called and spoke with Summer. She assured me I'd have a quote ready by the end of the next day. 2 more days go by with no update. I call again and am told it shouldn't be much longer. I wait another full day and nothing. Now when I call no one answers on 2 different occasions, 2 separate days/times, no response. I finally got them on the phone again today and again, she assured me I would at least get a call back. They are now closed and nothing. Unfortunately even established companies lie consistently. Almost 2 weeks wasted. Thank you.

I called Charleston Electrical and they were able to set up an appointment almost immediately. It was at a rental house of mine. The time was from 12:00 to 2:00. They sent me an email and text stating the day and time. The day was correct, but the time said from 12:00 am to 12:00 pm. I just thought that someone made a clerical error and meant 12:00 pm - 2:00pm like we had discussed on the phone. The day of the appointment, they texted me at 8:30 in the morning to say that they were on their way. I called them and said the time wasn't until at least 12:00 and that I would have to call the tenant to make sure that someone was there. The office personnel told me that the time she had in her schedule book was from 10:00 till 12:00 (which still made them very early when they called) and that the electrician had finished his one call earlier and that is why he was headed to my house. when I brought it to her attention about the time difference between what she said was in her schedule and what they texted and emailed me and told me on the phone when I first called them, she simply stated that was the time she had. We were fortunate that my tenants were there and could let them in. After the appointment I did not get a call. Just an email stating what the problem was and the charge for the inspection of $150. I was hoping that someone would call me from the job site and possibly make the repair at the same time, so that was a disapointment for me. When I looked at the email detailing what the problem was, I wanted to talk with the electrician to make sure that I understood what the problem was and how they were going to fix it. That did not happen either. The office personnel told me they would have the electrician call, but he never did. Instead the office personnel called me towards the end of the day and basically read the estimate to me as to what needed to be done and then gave me, as per the electrician, an estimate of approximately how long it would take and the cost. I had no more understanding of what needed to be done than before because the person who was talking with me did not know anything more than I did about the electrical work that needed to be done. Another disappointment.

Not well overall. Electricians seemed technically quite capable, but had to have them back after initial work because 2 circuits were not working (but which they did correct). A few weeks later on the first occurrence of a Dominion Energy power failure, the Generac generator did not kick in -- upon checking it myself, I found that it had been left in the OFF state by their service men on the second visit to repair the two non-working circuits. They did not return my phone call on this matter, but rather sent me two days later an "Appointment Reminder" e-mail without having contacted me to have made the appointment in the first place. I called them and expressed my displeasure, but agreed to the "scheduled" appointment that afternoon between 2pm and 4pm. In the meantime, I ran some errands and came home to discover that a power failure had occurred while I was out -- and that again the Generac generator had not kicked in. I waited all afternoon for their service person to arrive, but they never showed up. At 4:30 pm, I called them and learned that they had sent out a service man during the time I had been gone (without my knowledge or approval) and that they had never bothered to let me know that no one would be coming during the 2pm to 4pm scheduled appointment. Obviously, they do not consider treating a customer with any courtesy. I asked to have the service man who had come while I was not at home to phone me, especially to explain whether or not he had cause that particular power failure; no one ever returned my call. I was also displeased there was no paperwork done following any of their three service calls. I wrote a letter describing all this to Charleston Electric's management. I have had no response from this company's management. This shows me that the discourtesy shown me really originates from the company's management. Since it was not clear to me that the Generac generator was in working order following the third service call done while I was out (after all, there had been an unexplained power failure), I hired someone from another company to come and check it out. I give them a C overall only because their technicians do seem quite capable. I believe the company is just poorly managed.

Charleston Electric was an excellent company to work with. My electrician, Jeremy, was able to arrive early and was quickly able to fix the problem with my door bell. He was very professional and great to interact with. I just wish I had hired y'all sooner. I have recommended you to my realtor. Thank you!
