"Mike’s Tree Service did an excellent job removing and trimming multiple mature trees from our front and back yard. We were extremely impressed with how they strategically executed their work in terms of staging tree removals and trimmings, final tree cutting, clean up and stump grinding. Mike’s Tree Service, the consummate tree servicing and stump removal professionals. We highly recommend Mike’s Tree service."

"I never write reviews because most people just give average service and I see no point in writing a review just to describe an average experience. These guys went above and beyond and did not ask me to write this, I'm writing this only because the great work they did made me happy. They removed 2 large trees and some small bushes. I had 4 companies give estimates for the job. Stump Stompers sent a professional estimator out the day after I called them. The other three services took a week to even give an estimate, if they even bothered. I called them several times before I finally agreed to the contract. Every time I either reached somebody or they called me back promptly, even if I didn't leave a message. Most contractors around here you have to call repeatedly and leave multiple messages. When I signed the contract, they told me 2 weeks and they were out here in two weeks. The other contractors were booking 6 weeks out and who knows when they will show up. And the cherry on top was they were the lowest bid. When they came out to do the work, I asked them to remove 3 large bushes that I hadn't included in the original contract. The owner, who actually does tree work himself along with his crew, gave me a great price for the additional work. I asked them to chop up some of the wood into firewood sized logs and they did it for free. They probably spent an hour cleaning up after the job and my driveway is cleaner then before they came. Do not hesitate to hire these guys!"

Customers say: Quick response

"I contacted three different tree services to quote my job. The first never showed up, the second showed up three-sheets into the wind and then there was Patrica with AAA Union Tree Service. Within thirty minutes of placing my request on Angi, she sent me a text asking if she could come quote the job. Before the day was out, I had a written quote in my hand. Patricia was in the middle of a big apartment job but kept me abreast by text when they should be able to start. Her crew did a wonderful job and her associate Brenda was also very helpful in advising on how to update the exterior of the home and even brought out a beautiful shrub to show me. I can't say enough how please I am with the results of their work. I also received additional quotes before they left as I plan on making AAA Union Tree Service my go-to for all my landscaping needs! They were wonderful!"

Small jobs welcome

We are a small family business. I started this back in March of 2024 so that my son, Dad and I can spend time together enjoying what we like doing, Spending time together in the outdoors. We do forestry mulching, lot clearing, dirt work, demolition, driveways, pond bank clearing, debris hauling and more. We currently have 2 skid steers with attachments, a mid size excavator with attachments, tractors and dump trailers. We are licensed and insured. We take pride in our work and seeing our customers happy when their dreams and visions are coming together. We want that lasting relationships and repeat clients. So let H&T Land and Lawn become part of your family.

"Erick, the owner, was very quick to respond to my initial request. He was knowledgeable, came to look at the yard to confirm the request, and set a fair price. There was a little snag on day of service which made the crew (of only 2 guys) show up late (within about an hour of start time). Admittedly, that worried us at first, but once they got here, they were amazing! So efficient, and clearly experienced. Our sweet gum tree was probably over 50’ tall and even the largest branches were coming down precisely where they wanted them to. It was really amazing to watch. Hunter made sure that we were on the same page the whole time with what needed to be done. They got the whole job done within 2-3 hours and cleaned our patio better than it was before they arrived. For homeowners, it’s important to be aware that if you’ve never take a tree down in the lowcountry before, our squishy yards will have some dents from heavy limbs falling since we live in the swamp. If you’re taking down a sweet gum, you will find spiky pods for a few days. It’s inevitable. To handle this, we just raked up the leftovers that got stuck in the ground, then filled the dents with the dirt and mulch leftover from stump grinding (which Erick had a separate person, Tom, from On the Grind, come over and do same day. Tom was in and out in less than an hour! He even offered to fill the holes for us, but we had plans for the dirt). Highly recommend both companies. Thanks, guys!"

"The work went very well in every respect. Workers were mindful of neighbor's property, took down large trees safely without damage to shrubs or lawn, and performed an amazing cleanup. I would definitely hire this company for future work."

"Al's Stump Grinding is run by two brothers who run the business with a high standard of professionalism and excellence! I recommend them without hesitation. The initial call lead to a rapid yard work and quote followed by the work being done in a matter of days. Their pricing is extraordinarily reasonable - much lower than I expected as a price per stump especially considering that they cut down bushes with their chainsaw, removed and replaced rocks and edging, moved all debris to the front yard for the city to haul, and, finally, ground the stumps!!! EXCELLENT SERVICE and EXCELLENT PRICING!!!"

"I hired Kenneth and his team to do tree trimming at my parents’ home. They trimmed two large oaks and did a beautiful job. Very courteous and professional. The cleanup was amazing. I would recommend them to family and friends and hire them again in the future."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

It depends. Smaller, younger trees take longer to mature, but they're more resilient, their roots don't get as damaged during transplanting, and they recover faster. Plus, they're much more affordable to plant, and it's possible to DIY the planting.

On the other hand, mature trees produce fruit faster and provide more shade and privacy immediately. Ideally, a small or medium tree is the better choice if you can wait a few years for it to mature. But if you need immediate maturity, a larger tree is the only option.

Many consider the Fraser fir to be the most popular type of Christmas tree, but which type of tree sells out near you can depend on region and decorating trends that year. For example, the Leyland cypress is especially popular in the Southeast, according to the National Christmas Tree Association.

Make sure the tree roots soak around a day before you dig the tree up for the transplant. Keep the roots wet while the tree is above ground. After the transplant is finished, provide consistent water every day for the first month or so. You don’t want to overwater the tree, but you do want to keep the roots wet so they can thrive in their new environment.

Trees naturally want to grow upward, so one may straighten all by itself, though this only comes into play when a tree is leaning just a small amount. For trees growing into an awkward position or those leaning heavily in one direction, the above steps are necessary to ensure the tree gets back on the right path. This also holds true for trees planted in a spot with unstable soil.

Though summer is not ideal, you can do some light pruning during this time of year. Just make sure it’s not excessive. Vigorous pruning will stress the tree and impact next year’s growth. Generally, August to September are the best summer-pruning months, particularly for fruit trees.
