"They are excellent. Our water is very hard and it normally corrodes things. We are already noticing a big difference in our water quality. We are pleasantly surprised and we would highly recommend them to anyone."

"Contacted Henco for service of a Noritz On Demand water heater, and a next day appointment was available. Joshua arrived at the scheduled time. He inspected the unit and provided choices and recommendations of what could be done to flush and service so the unit (which was intermittent) would function properly, and the costs involved. He was very patient with my questions, and invited me to observe. Joshua also gave suggestions on proper care and that I should drain the unit during extreme freeze events to prevent damage. I would highly recommend him to any of my friends. Pricing was based on the service performed, rather than an hourly rate. The repair cost was in line with other estimates, which, like everything else, has gone up substantially over the years. based on the excellent and prompt service, I'll certainly call Henco in the future."

"We recently moved in and the plumbing inspection helped me to assess what we may need going forward. They made a couple small repairs on the spot. Gave an estimate for replacing an older water heater. Nice guys...professional.

"We had a toilet shutoff valve start leaking which meant we had to shut the water off to the whole house, so we needed someone in a hurry. Roots Plumbing responded very quickly and rebuilt the valve with new seals. Works perfectly now. Really nice people to deal with, highly recommended."

"JP and Tyler were professional, efficient, and friendly. I called them to repair and possibly replace a bad bathtub faucet and it ended up being a slightly bigger job, requiring some old pipes be replaced and the installation of a new access panel in the kitchen. Those two were still done in the time they'd quoted me, and their work looks and works great. I'd recommend them to work on my mom's house, and that's my highest praise."

"We have been meaning to get our leaky garbage disposal fixed for some time now. We finally scheduled a service time with Hot Water Heater Company. The two plumbers showed up as scheduled and assessed the situation. Rather than charging us the flat rate (which we were told about up front) the plumbers were able to tighten a bolt to quickly fix the leak and left with a hand shake. It is so refreshing to have a professional in my home who is willing to do a stranger a favor! These guys now have a customer for life."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

Water softeners have many benefits. The most important one is converting previously hard water—water with too many minerals—to more usable, easier water. When we say easier water, we mean water that’s easier to digest, less harsh on skin and clothes, and builds up less in the water system. Softer water may lead to lower energy costs and will extend the lifespan of all appliances that use water.

No, hard water isn’t dangerous. The added calcium in hard water can contribute to good bone health. However, it can also cause dry skin and hair. If you have dry skin or hair, consider using a water-softening system to help minimize the minerals in your water. Plus, these systems can also add some sodium to your diet.

The most accurate way to determine whether you have hard water is to purchase a water test kit from a hardware store or send a tap water sample to a lab. But there are some signs you can look out for without professional testing. For instance, if you're consistently dealing with mineral stains on your glassware, windows, and shower doors, you're likely to have hard water. Hard water can also make it harder to lather and rinse soap, so if you're struggling to work up a good lather in the shower, hard water might be the culprit.

No, a water descaler won't descale pipes. The charged water running through the pipes may very slowly dissolve mineral deposits and hold them inside the water, but it's a very gradual process. If your pipes do need descaling, it's much better to get a local plumber to descale your pipes.

A tankless water heater should be at least 10 feet away from a water softener, although the pros you hire for water softener installation can help you determine the correct distance. These two units need to have some distance between them to prevent hot water from the tankless water heater from flowing backward into the water softener when it runs a regeneration cycle.
