"The torsion spring on my garage door broke and the cables came unwound from the cable drum. Out of four places that I contacted, Thunder was one of two that didn't require a trip fee for getting an estimate. The other contractor would give an estimate for the labor, but not the parts. And he left in a huff when I said that I was only interested in an estimate that day. Dean from Thunder quoted me $550 to replace the spring, cables and cable drums. When I said that I was not going to have work done that day, he said that he could try to get the price down if I was willing to have him do the work right then. I would have said no, but since I canceled a scheduled estimate later in the day (because of a $73 trip fee), I was curious how he would bring the price down. Dean said that he could replace just the spring and shaft, and even though the cable drums were old, he would re-spool the cables and make them work with the new shaft instead of replacing them. The new price was 350. I was very happy with the price point, the quality of the work, and the communication."
