I had a clogged drain line near the street that a rooter guy couldn't break through. I thought I was looking at having to replace the entire line. At the risk of throwing good money after bad, I called Grumpy's. I got great advice over the phone including a number to call if I decided to have the line dug up. The rate I was quoted was reasonable. Grumpy came out and cleared the line in less than half an hour. In addition, he put a scope down the line, found the exact location where roots were getting through, and marked the spot with paint at no extra charge. He wrote down the coupling and pipe I would need to make the repair. When I dug, the break was right where he indicated. Grumpy was a real pro. He saved me a bunch of time and money.

Looked for someone to clean my drains outside and saw Grumpy's Drain Service - name drew me in, family owned with photo had me calling. We had someone out within a couple of hours and could not have been more pleased. Professional, knowledgeable, fast & efficient - could not have asked for better. Kinda reminded me of what I grew up with - down home trustworthiness, honesty, and didn't try to sell me something I didn't need. I will highly recommend to anyone and would use them again.

Grumpy's Drains was the only company who could get us on their schedule within a week. A half hour before our appointment time, Keith called to let me know he was on his way and then showed up exactly on time. My husband had tried to snake the drains multiple times with no success. Keith was able to clean the clog out of the tub in less than 10 minutes (water balloon and hair clog). He then went to work on the pedestal sink. That was a much more difficult clog while working in a tight space. Keith was cheerful, funny and kind the entire time. The first clog cost a flat $178 and the additional drain was $88. It was money well spent and I would absolutely call on this company again in the future.

Keith easily unclogged the kitchen sink, snaking the drain and it was quickly completed. However, as is the case with lots of repairs, you touch one part and it causes a change reaction with other worn-out parts. The drain pipes leaked after he left and he promptly returned the next day. We found a part that had corroded and he quickly replaced the part at no charge to me and his service was already guaranteed, so no extra charge to fix the part. Very happy with the service and commitment to quality work.

Unable to accomplish, but charged $400 anyway and told me to get sewer line replaced. Hired another person a month or so later who cleaned it out completely, all 110 ft. and charged $125.

The appointment was easy and quick to set up via phone call. The service provider arrived on time, reviewed & confirmed information that had been discussed on the phone, then got to work. He explained everything he was doing, answered unrelated plumbing questions, was generally friendly and efficient. He was careful to clean up after himself and obviously respected my home. Would use again and would recommend to friends and family. Also, note: they are strictly a drain cleaning service; if you need something more he will happily provide a recommendation but have no reason to upsell.

Our washer drains into a sink that was clogged. Rita the scheduler was responsive and helpful. Our tech showed up on timed. He was thorough and walked me through his work when he was finished. He even gave me a few easy fixes to prevent the clog moving forward. Very happy with their service.

These guys were great. They got right to work. They showed me the inside of the pipe and where there might be problems in future (slight bowing). They said no problems now and that issue could be resolved with a simple flush in future. IE no upsell, totally transparent, quick work. I will call them to do flush when/if necessary.

Because of the way our plumbing was done originally, we need to get our drains cleaned about once a year. We've tried other companies, but we've used Grumpy's for the past two years, and they are the best.

The job was done as expected. However the cost of job (~$600) is too high relative to length of the job performed ~1 hour.

"Our pricing is competitive to and in some cases lower than a lot of other large corporate companies. When you call our office you are given an estimate over the phone then we go over it again with you when we arrive. No hidden costs. It takes approx. $40-50K in equipment and employees to bring to your house to do a job like yours. Trust me, I'm not driving a luxury car or living in a huge house like yourself. I guess my biggest disappointment is that you never mentioned any complaints when we were there, even though your attitude of dealing with "the service people" was appalling, you just decided to "stain" us with an unfavorable review. If I could give a review on my customers, you would not receive any 5 stars either! Sorry for your buyer's remorse, but you can enjoy years of flowing rain drains. I stand by our 15 years of cleaning Portland's drains and we thank you Angies List members for making us your #1 Drain Cleaner and we look forward to serving you all. Grumpy"

The technician arrived on time (actually, a little early). He ran water from the basement sink to confirm the floor drain was in fact still backing up. He then snaked out the drain, explaining what he was doing, and what he found. He made some suggestions of how to reduce lint and other debris that can contribute to drain clogs. I appreciate the fact that Grumpy's quotes a flat rate over the phone to clean a drain - they don't have to come out, for a fee, to give you an estimate - and that because Grumpy's is just a drain service, they don't try to up-sell you on plumbing repairs.

Question answered. After some energetic snaking produced only mud and gravel, we declared it either to be a "collapsed pipe" or a catch basin. Technician snaked a neighboring pipe to see if there was a back door into the suspected catch basin, but no luck. Next step: find someone to dig up the old basin then install a sump pump w. basin.
