"Josh Wilder from Roth Home was excellent. He inspected my outdoor faucet to provide me an estimate to get it fixed. During his inspection he determined there was a blockage and had got the faucet operating with running water in a matter of minutes. He was very professional, punctual, and courteous."

"DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I’ve been getting strung along since summer of 2023! Whom I know as the owner of this company assured me he would get a permit and close it out, has not kept his word! My opinion is that he is a scam artist. And he scammed me, the widow of an American veteran!"

Owned and mainly operated by Don Bassetti. Homers Excavation has been up and running for a year and a half, but Don has been working in the industry for years. Please visit our Facebook page for reviews and photos! Homer's Excavation main services include, but may not be limited to excavation, land clearing, grass and stump removal, road site prep for buildings, horse arenas, cattle and vineyard fencing, tree removal, private logging, grass and bush removal, and trenching.

"Hired them for a basic residential addition foundation job and they completely screwed up every step of the process. They don’t know how to read plans or pour straight out flat foundations. They don’t pay their subs which is coming back on us now. They won't respond to any communications. A lien has now been filed on the project because of their lack of payment. Shocked at their ineptitude. Very friendly people, but they should not be construction business owners."

"We bought a new-construction house on a well, and the well had a number of problems. The water itself (bad taste, staining and clogging plumbing) and the pressure (plumbing would rattle and pressure would be very high and very low). Travis and Zeb solved all of these problems and were thoughtful and conscientious during the entire process. We ended up needing a pressure tank, a pressure-release valve, and a filtration system. We are thrilled with everything they did. Our house is so much nicer to live in now. The water filtration was the trickiest. We had talked to other providers who thought we had iron bacteria and offered expensive systems without doing any lab tests. Travis did both onsite tests and lab tests, confirming we didn't have bacteria and consulting with filter providers on how best to deal with the problems we did have (iron and manganese). He set us up with test filtration systems at the house to make absolutely sure the filtration system we bought would clear up the water. In the interim, he was available by phone and email to answer all of our questions about system design, installation, and maintenance. We can't say enough about how much we appreciate their work."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

A tankless water heater should be at least 10 feet away from a water softener, although the pros you hire for water softener installation can help you determine the correct distance. These two units need to have some distance between them to prevent hot water from the tankless water heater from flowing backward into the water softener when it runs a regeneration cycle.

Replacing a water softener costs $200 to $6,000, depending on the capacity of the water softener, the type of water softener, and the amount of people living in your home. An ion exchange water softener is the most common type and costs $500 to $3,000. Water distillers, which cost $1,200 to $4,000, and dual-tank models, which cost $1,000 to $5,000, are definitely pricey, but they offer more filtration or capacity, respectively.

The chemicals in a water softener can wear down the anode rod in the heater and shorten its life span. However, for most people, the benefits of the softener outweigh this potential drawback.

Have a plumber inspect the anode rod annually for damage, as replacing the anode rod is far less expensive than replacing the entire water heater.

You can decide whether you need a water softener or water filter based on how your bathing or laundry experience is. If you notice issues like limescale buildup, dry skin, or stains on dishes—all telltale signs of hard water—you'd likely benefit from a water softener. However, if your main concern is over chemicals or bacteria in your tap water filter, and not just comfort, a filter is a better option.

The best way to fix hard water in a shower is by installing a water softener system. This is the only way to truly ensure that hard water doesn't enter your shower—or any part of your home beyond the water softener. Most other methods are temporary fixes. While you can choose a shower filter, these filters aren’t as effective and may not remove many contaminants that cause limescale and hard water stains.
