"For 95% of the projects, we were extremely happy. Happy enough to ask for bids for future work. We were included in all parts from beginning to end. Very trustworthy to have work continue when we were out of town. He asked for clarification when he needed it and asked if we were happy as each step was finished."

"Amazing service and great communications! If you are looking for an honest contractor who really cares for your property (and your money), then I highly recommend Promise Land. They renovated several properties for me in Centralia in the last 6 months, including a single family, a 100 year old apartment complex, and several storage units. Beth did a great job communicating the details of each project and in each case provided recommendations to save money or add more value to the property. She provided a high quality job with at reasonable cost and in a timely manner. Overall I was very happy with how the projects went and I look forward to work with Beth in the future."

"Honestly, I have to say Max promised to be the best contractor ever. And he was, in our experience. The crew did great work and were meticulous. They had pride in their work. There was excellent communication. It was done in a week and site was left clean."

"Opportunity Construction and their sub-contractors performed a wide range of services during the remodel of our 1940 Craftsman Cottage here in West Olympia. Yard fence replacement (now beautiful stained cedar); demo, removal, and replacement of carport concrete pad, with conversion to covered patio; windows and exterior door replacements; exterior structural repairs; new Hardie Plank lap siding; demo of former garage pad, followed by construction of a new two-car garage and concrete driveway; and, complete repaint of both structures - superb outcome! Great staff and company owner, Dean a great and fair guy to work with!"

"I hired Capitol City Construction to build a shingled roof over my existing deck. The workers arrived promptly each morning and did an excellent job on the project! This was the second project I've had CCC do for me, and I would highly recommend them. They are prompt, courteous, and do excellent work in a timely manner."

"recently hired Northwest Builders & Renovation to build my garage, and I couldn?t be happier with the results. From start to finish, their team was professional, responsive, and detail-oriented. The communication was clear every step of the way, and they delivered exactly what they promised ? on time and within budget. The quality of the framing, concrete, and finish work exceeded my expectations. They took care of everything efficiently, handled permits smoothly, and left the site clean every day. It?s rare to find contractors this reliable and dedicated to doing the job right. I highly recommend Northwest Builders & Renovation to anyone looking for skilled, honest professionals who truly care about their work."

"There are always things with a paint job that get missed and show up after the paint dries. Eric was great about fixing things that made the house look like a million dollars. Excellent work. He went above and beyond and was worth every dollar. Every concern was addressed very fast and the overall quality made me extremely happy."

"Had the Andreason team perform a kitchen renovation for us and had our expectations exceeded in every way. We had dealt with a few “professional” contracting companies in the past and had less then stellar results and were very weary entering the next phase of improvements on our home. After hearing a very positive experience from close friends of ours we figured we’d get quotes and feel things out. From the start to the end we are overwhelmed with the results and the professionalism displayed. Not only was the work top tier but Scott and Kayla were both very respectful of our space and time constraints. We can’t say enough positive things and will definitely be bringing them back when we go forwards with adding a suite to our basement when the funds allow to do so. Thanks again for the great work guys! Look forward to seeing how you guys can transform our next project!"

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

While it is possible to build a wooden carport yourself, especially if you are skilled in carpentry, professional construction is recommended. Professionals ensure structural integrity, proper anchoring, correct alignment, and the use of quality materials for a stable and durable result.

Costs depend on furniture type, size, complexity, and whether additional modifications are needed.

House framing can be expensive because the materials are pricey, and the job requires a high level of expertise. The more complex the plans, the more expensive the job, but even the most basic frame needs to be installed with high-quality materials and precision. When pricing your home’s framework, remember that a sturdy frame is necessary to create a safe structure.

The cost to frame a 2,000-square-foot house can fall anywhere between $14,000 and $32,000. This price can increase or decrease depending on what type of framing you choose, the quality of the materials, the project's complexity, and whether you decide to hire a professional to do the job.

When deciding if you should use 2x6 or 2x8 deck joists, consider the size of the deck, joist spacing, and materials. Larger decks, larger-spaced joists, and weaker wood all require more support, meaning they need larger joists. For example, 2x8 redwood joists spaced 16 inches apart can only safely span up to 10 feet and 7 inches. On the other hand, 2x10 southern pine joists spaced 12 inches apart can be as big as 16 feet and 2 inches. If you aren’t sure what size joist is best for your project, speak with your deck builder.
