"DES installed 2 new electrical outlets, 2 new electrical panels, 3 wall heaters with dedicated circuits, and other miscellaneous electrical work. They explained options and what they would need to do to get the job done correctly. They arrived at the scheduled times, worked around our dog, explained the work they were doing, were friendly and easy to work with, and explained color and size options. When a light malfunctioned, they quickly scheduled an appointment for the waranty work which I am very satisfied with. I would hire them again."

"Breaker Brothers Electric may be a fairly new company, but I urge you to take a chance with them. I did and couldn't be happier with their work. Matt and John are both great to work with and their bid was very fair and beat the competition. They replaced our old breaker box and installed a car charger for us. The work was great, the communication was clear and timely, and the guys were trustworthy and friendly. The project was done well and on time. Next time I have any electrical needs, I'll call them directly. I was very impressed with Breaker Brothers Electric!"

"I needed many light switches replaced as these switches were not longer making good contact and the switches needed to be toggled many times to turn a light on. There were two parts to the work: (1) free estimate (unlike some others referred to me; and (2) then the work. They asked some questions and then prepared the estimate. On the day the work was to be completed, they arrived at the scheduled time and started to work. When a potential complication arose, I was kept informed (but these did not affect the cost). The work was done promptly. I was very happy with the work and will use them for future projects."

Small jobs welcome

"I contacted a big electrical company to check out my basement, which has knob and tube wiring. I was not happy with the quote that they gave me, so I went back to look for other electricians. I happened upon Doctor Sparky's in Angi, and they were able to check out my house immediately. Nathan gave me a quote a little after him and his team left our house, and it was a way better and competitive price than what I was quoted by the big company. Not only were his prices reasonable, Nathan was very communicative, respectful, and transparent throughout the entire process. Unfortunately, there were other parts of the house that had knob and tube wiring, but thankfully Nathan found it since he double checked the entire house after he finished the basement. Thank you so much, Nathan! You've made our house a safer home. We will hire him and his team again for any future electrical needs."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Olympia’s rainy winters and mild summers call for a tailored inspection routine. In fall, check outdoor outlets and test GFCIs before storm season. During winter, inspect panels for moisture and ensure space heaters are on safe circuits. Spring is ideal for checking for water damage in crawl spaces, while summer is best for cleaning around panels and inspecting AC wiring. Monthly, test GFCIs and visually inspect your panel for issues.

Helpful?

Electrical maintenance in Olympia should include frequent checks for moisture around exterior outlets and junction boxes, especially after heavy rainfall. Test GFCI outlets monthly, as required locally, and inspect your electrical panel each year for rust or corrosion. Replace smoke detector batteries every six months, and watch for signs of oxidation on outdoor fixtures. If your home has aluminum wiring, schedule regular safety inspections to prevent hazards.

Helpful?

Olympia homes built before 1975, especially those with aluminum wiring or outdated panels, often need electrical upgrades. Signs like frequent breaker trips, missing GFCI outlets, or two-prong plugs indicate your system may be outdated. Homes near water or in older neighborhoods may face extra moisture risks. If your home is over 40 years old or you’re planning renovations, consider a professional electrical assessment for safety.

Helpful?

In Olympia, always shut off power at the breaker and confirm with a voltage tester before starting any electrical repair. You can safely replace standard outlets, switches, or light fixtures under 50 pounds, and reset GFCI outlets if needed. Avoid electrical work during wet weather, which is common locally. For panel upgrades, outdoor wiring, or aluminum wiring concerns, contact a qualified professional for safety.

Helpful?

For electrical work in Olympia, keep a non-contact voltage tester, digital multimeter, wire strippers, insulated screwdrivers, and wire nuts available. Due to Olympia’s damp climate, moisture-resistant electrical tape and weatherproof outlet covers are crucial. GFCI outlet testers, surge protectors for frequent storms, and backup flashlights with fresh batteries are also smart to have. These essentials help address local weather challenges and support safe, routine maintenance.
