"This was the second time I’ve hired Jose to install flooring! He did the living room and kitchen last year, and the bathroom and hallway most recently! He is always professional, a great communicator, and an expert at installing my floors. Jose and his team were in and out in just one day! They worked really quickly and efficiently, and the finished product looks great. If I had any more floors to redo, I’d have Jose and his team back in a heartbeat!"

"When we got the quote from Sterling Smith, I’m sure it was quite reasonable it was just more than we were looking to spend. Their response was very quick and they were willing to come out right away. I don’t think that he completely understood what we were looking for in getting the initial impression of the cost. We had a very small area on the floor, maybe like 3 or 4 inches and he wanted to review our entire floors. It wasn’t what we were looking for."

"Hugo is easy to work with and he is punctual and dependable. He put in a sub floor and a new oak floor in my bedroom.. It was finished beautifully and I was impressed on how the wood floor met the marble floor of my bathroom. He also sanded and refinished the rest of my home with a water base finish.. He is trustworthy and his prices are very reasonable."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Upgrading flooring in Olympia typically increases both home value and buyer interest, especially when you choose durable, water-resistant options like hardwood, luxury vinyl plank, or tile. Local buyers value sustainable and easy-to-maintain materials. Fresh flooring in kitchens, bathrooms, and main living areas can help your home stand out, making it more attractive to buyers and potentially leading to more competitive offers.

Helpful?

Olympia’s damp weather makes it wise to keep a dehumidifier and a moisture meter to protect wood floors. Use microfiber mops, pH-neutral cleaners, and soft-bristle brushes for regular care. Entry mats help minimize tracked-in moisture during rainy seasons. For quick responses to spills or leaks, have a wet/dry vacuum, plastic sheeting, and portable fans ready, all available at local Olympia hardware stores.

Helpful?

For a seamless flooring project in Olympia, start by selecting moisture-resistant flooring materials and using vapor barriers to address the region’s damp climate. Schedule installation during drier months, ideally late spring through early fall, and let materials acclimate inside your home for several days. Double-check if subfloor changes require permits, and always verify your flooring contractor’s insurance and recent Olympia-area references for added peace of mind.

Helpful?

Homes in Olympia with crawl spaces, concrete slabs, or those built before 1960 may face challenges like uneven subfloors, asbestos tiles, or shifting due to clay-rich soil. Split-level designs and narrow hallways can make material transport and transitions tricky. If you see signs of foundation settling or persistent basement moisture, consult a local flooring professional before starting your project.

Helpful?

Olympia’s wet climate can cause hardwood to warp, carpet to develop musty odors, or visible mold to appear—clear signs it’s time for new flooring. If your floors are uneven, squeak excessively, or are nearing the end of their typical lifespan, consider an upgrade. Homeowners often schedule flooring installation before listing a property to attract buyers in Olympia’s competitive market.
