"Gonzalez Landscaping & Tree Care did an outstanding job and completed the job quickly. Recieved quote on Thursday and they worked Friday through Sunday to complete the job. I also had them powerwash the house. I'll use them again in the future."

"They did a great job cutting down two 60-foot tall oak trees on a very cold February day. They showed up on time, left the yard extremely clean, stacked some of the wood for a fire pit, and trimmed a few more trees (extra feeâ very reasonable). Price was very reasonable and the service quality was great. Highly recommend them!"

"Destiny's Tree Service did a great job! I enjoyed excellent communication from Eddie, the arborist; Mike, the office manager; and Marvin, the crew chief. All were professional, straight-forward; and polite. The cost of the job was very reasonable (compared to other quotes) and it was done on-time, as scheduled. Most notably, after the work was completed, the crew did an excellent job cleaning up. They took no short cuts. I would definitely hire them again without looking anywhere else!"

"Jorge and his crew did a fantastic job cutting large dead trees in my yard. He was very comprehensive and is very knowledgeable about everything tree related. Best part was his cost effectiveness compared to other quotes I received. I will definitely be working with them in future needs and recommend them to others needing his services!"

"I had multiple quotes for a nearly dead tree to be removed. Ricky came out to give a last minute quote and best the best quote of the bunch. There were a couple delays due to vehicle troubles and other jobs taking more time; HOWEVER, it was not a problem whatsoever because Ricky was prompt and considerate with his communication with me. Normally, delays would bother me but Ricky's customer service and friendliness put me at ease. Ricky and his team took care of the tree, which wasn't the easiest job considering how dead the tree was. They cut and organized the leftover wood in an organized fashion at my request. The remaining wood was removed and the yeard was cleared well. I am typically a tough customer to deal with but Ricky was great. I rarely leave reviews for anything either but it felt like the right thing to do considering his professionalism, performance, and customer service. Zero complaints from me. Would highly recommend."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

No, you should never top maple trees. Topping injures the tree and leads to the rapid growth of a weak canopy, which can be hazardous to rooftops and utility lines. Removing the crown can also leave the interior bark vulnerable to sun damage, leading to insects and disease. A topped tree can also reduce property value and permanently damage the appearance of a tree.

DIY home gardening can be relaxing, joyful, and cost-effective. From mowing your lawn to planting your own flower beds, there is a wide variety of gardening tasks that you can do yourself to make your yard look beautiful. If you’d rather spend your time not in the dirt, or if you’d like someone to take care of your plants for you, calling a professional gardening service is best. They can give you a workup of what services you’ll need and how often to schedule them.

You can use a chainsaw, but it won’t remove the entire stump or root ball and is not a recommended method. It takes quite a bit of physical work to achieve and will likely dull or ruin your chainsaw. Instead, consider using salt, herbicide, light deprivation, boiling water, stump grinding, or burning to kill a tree stump. These methods allow you to kill a stump using minimal machinery and physical exertion.

If the roots are still alive, the dead tree will usually try to put out new shoots. That doesn’t mean the tree will survive or that the dead parts of a tree will come back to life. If parts of the tree have died and turned gray or rotten, nothing will bring them back to life and they need to be safely removed.

Generally speaking, you’ll want to avoid flush cuts, which are cuts made as extremely close to the trunk or main branch. These cuts can weaken your tree, lower its natural defense mechanisms, and even cause decay. You’ll also want to avoid tree topping, which is the total removal of the leader and upper main branches of a tree.

Most pros will advise against either of these methods, which is why hiring a pro is often the best choice when it comes to tree trimming.
