"They arrived on time with plenty of workers for the job. We were given an extremely fair price to remove 2 tall large-width trees & 2 tall smaller-width trees. Everything was done safely, even with the wind blowing. We will definitely be using them again later this year. We highly recommend them. Check them out!"

"Excellent work! Great price! What else can you ask for. They did a great job cutting trees down in a small space without damaging my property. They cleaned up after themselves and left my yard looking great! They were responsive to my communication with them and they showed up on time. I would highly recommend them to anyone in need of any type of tree trimming services."

"I am so pleased with the work performed by Gordon. We contacted him for an estimate on removing a few trees and trim some others in our yard. He contacted us and personally came over to give us an estimate. He knows his trees. He has done this work for 30 years and it's a family business which we love working with small family businesses. We had an ill apple tree - it was not maintained prior to us purchasing the home 8 years ago. We tried to prune it, figure out what ailed it. A number of arborists (other estimate providers) agreed that it was beyond hope and to remove it. We also removed a smaller apple tree (for pollination). We have mimosas which are the weed of trees. I love them for their blooms (they attract butterflies, bees and hummingbirds), but they are so intrusive. Gordon pointed out that one of the mimosas was possible causing an issue with our home due to their roots. We had him remove 2 mimosas and trim a third one (I wanted to keep one for the blooms & bees). What really impressed me was one of the other trees we wanted removed turned out to be a honey locust which Gordon told us was healthy and we should keep it. We did. His price was very fair and reasonable - included the stump removal as well. He was able to come out the following week and complete the job. He told us he would call us sometime the beginning of the week (we were flexible). Gordon called me the day before and asked if the next day was a good day to do the project. Worked for me. He called me in the morning of our appointment to confirm and gave me an estimated time of arrival. He called before the ETA and said he would be delayed and updated his arrival time. They showed up and had the entire job completed in less than 3 hours! These guys were amazing to watch and constantly going. I was impressed. They completely cleaned up the debris - looked even better than it did before they arrived. I highly recommend Gordon! I was completely satisfied with his work, the communication, his knowledge and his professionalism."

"Wilber and his crew were awesome. He gave me a great quote to remove a large tree and trim another large tree. They were on time, completed the job, cleaned up, and inspected everything. They finished the job even with terrible weather that rolled through towards the end of the job. Highly recommend!"

"Called for Daniel Ross the arborist to come reevaluate a large tree in front yard. Last June 2017 a large branch had split off across my front yard and driveway. The branch covered the sidewalk, part of the street, and knocked over my mailbox. He pointed out where the tree had joint problems and suggested treatment to try and save the tree. It was a large maple and very full, giving shade to front of house and side deck. This spring half of the tree did not have leaves or leaf buds. Daniel Ross came back and agreed that the tree was not healthy and needed removal. I signed a work order on Friday 5/4/18 to have the tree removed. Expected to have it done the following week, but called Friday 5/11/18 and was told my tree was not on the schedule yet. Told Tracey how worried I was because of the weather forecasts for storms and the tree was half dead. Monday 5/14/18 Tracey called just before 10 am and said the crew would be at my house shortly, they were on their way. By 10:20 am they were here and at work. The equipment included a large chipper/shredder for the smaller leafy branches, a small bulldozer to move the large logs to a large open truck, and a bucket truck. One man in the bucket worked from the top of the tree down with ropes on the parts being cut to control their fall. Men on the ground moved branches to chipper/shredder and cut up larger logs to move to the larger truck. The work went very smoothly and they were finished and the front yard cleaned up by 12:30 pm. Later in the day there thunder storms, rain, and high wind gusts in the area and I was relieved that the large tree was not a danger to my house or anyone walking or driving by. The price was higher than my neighbors had paid another tree service to take down a tree in their front yard but they did not have the equipment that Ross Tree Service has and their tree took a full day to get down where Ross got my tree down (which was taller) in approximately 4 hours."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Ideally, you’ll have a good enough relationship with your neighbors that you can kindly mention this task in regular conversation. However, every neighbor (and neighborhood) is different. Your best bet will always be to ask directly and nicely, offering to contribute to the tree trimming efforts if you’d like. However, if you are bothered by the tree and your neighbor is unwilling to cut it, you can involve the help of the homeowners’ association or local authorities, if applicable.

In most ways, palm trees are incredibly low-maintenance. They don’t need a ton of water—which is why they’re so beloved in desert regions—and they basically prune themselves. But they do need an ample supply of sunlight and to be in soil that will allow for proper drainage so that their roots don’t become waterlogged and at risk of developing illnesses.

If the plant begins to wilt, develop spots, or change color, these could all be signs that your palm tree has a disease. But a few basic treatments, like pruning and applying fungicide, will usually be more than enough to return it to perfect health.

While the trees in your backyard are good for the environment and look beautiful, they could present a danger to your home under the wrong circumstances. This task is typically beyond the capabilities of the average homeowner due to its dangerous nature, so it’s best to leave this task to a professional. In some cities, it’s even illegal to remove a tree yourself.

Leaving the tree stump and letting it rot is never a good idea, as this leads to insect infestations and other frustrations. Additionally, decomposing trunks are at risk for diseases that spread out to the remaining plants and trees in the yard, thus ruining your whole outdoor aesthetic. It's usually best to remove the stump at the same time you remove the tree.

Only trim palm trees as needed, which is usually about once per year. However, don't stick to that schedule if the palm tree doesn't need it. Avoid trimming palm trees when possible. It’s best to trim palm trees only when you notice a buildup of dead fronds. That said, leave the brown fronds during the dormant season because this organic matter helps protect the tree from the cooler weather.
