"Can only say it simply - these are the guys you want working on your house. Rudy, Jimmy and his team transformed the bottom floor of our house and made it new. The town home had an old ceramic tile in the kitchen that was replaced by Kustom Floors with beautiful hardwood. Rudy matched the wood perfectly with the rest of the house and then laid it in the original floor. You can't even tell where the new floor begins, it is integrated that perfectly. His team then leveled the new floor perfectly. Kustom floors also re-finished the stairs and added new hand rails to the side and a new banister. It looks beautiful and I love it every day. Jimmy (Rudy's brother) and Rudy went the extra mile to help us, adding concrete to gaps in our old house to help with insulation. They treated this house like it was their own and treated us like family. I can't thank Kustom Floors, Rudy and Jimmy enough for the amazing work they did. These are the guys you want working on your house."

"Brian from Torres flooring reached out to me immediately after I submitted my request, and quickly gave me a quote and did the repair that day! We had a small section of our vinyl floor cut out by our previous owners to install a wooden railing. We removed the railing and needed the flooring patched with some of the flooring we had stored away. I contacted so many floor companies who said the job was 'too risky' and declined the job, or told us we needed to replace the entire floor (for like $5k). Brian was super friendly and said he could do the job no problem, understood what we needed done, and did a great job! We were seriously getting desperate and didn't know if we were ever going to get our floor fixed. HUGE thank you to Brian for the expertly rescuing our floor!"

"I cannot speak highly enough of Naulas Floors. We have hired them three times to redo our floors following water damage or just mitigating the wear and tear. They are very conscientious and detail oriented in the work so we never have to worry about specifics. They are always very considerate and efficient, timely and punctual, and always keep the house clean after they work. They have also been very responsive in times of emergencies, which is a relief. They are our go-to specialists. I highly recommend them!"

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Dry rot or severe water damage may warrant a replacement, but you don’t always need to replace damaged subflooring. If your subfloor has warped because it was installed incorrectly, you can sometimes shim the panels (in other words, add a thin, wedge-shaped piece of wood to level the surface). If your subfloor bows upward, you may be able to sand it down at the joist so it’s level, depending on the extent of the damage.

Common problems with laminate flooring include surface-level scratches, dents, warping, and separating seams. Scratches can be caused by dragging heavy items like furniture or from not using a mat under rolling office chairs. Dents can occur from regular wear and tear or from dropping heavy objects on the floor. Most of these issues can be prevented with regular cleaning and moisture control, and many are fairly easy to fix for a beginner DIYer.

Laminate flooring takes about 24 to 48  hours to settle. Before this, planks are not completely acclimated to your home, and walking on them could cause shifting and permanent damage to the flooring. You should allow floorboards to acclimate for 48 to 72 hours before installing so that they can adjust to your home’s humidity and temperature levels, but they will continue to acclimate and settle after installation. For this reason, avoid placing any furniture in the room for 72 hours after installation.

Your floors will continue to settle for a few months after installation, becoming less bouncy as they rest.

Raising a sunken living room requires help from a professional contractor. The expert will remove existing flooring and trim, reroute utility lines with respect to the new floor level, pour concrete to fill the recessed space, and then let the concrete cure. After the foundation is raised up, the contractor will install the new utility lines, repaint the walls, if necessary, and finish the area with flooring and trim.

After carpet removal, prepare for new flooring by assessing the subfloor. You will want to address any imperfections to create a smooth and level base for installation. Remember, proper subfloor preparation is crucial for optimal new flooring results. Consider repairing and replacing damaged areas for a stable foundation. For both wood and concrete subfloors, consider sanding to remove any debris or adhesives remaining thoroughly.
