Customers say: Quick response

"I really appreciated the speed at which Ancelmo called me right away after my inquiry through the Angi app. He came the next day and gave me an estimate to tile our kitchen backsplash. His price was half of my first estimate and 500 lower than the second bid it got. We debated doing the project ourselves since we had done some tile projects before. BUT, we are so happy we hired Ancelmo. He’s a total pro and so efficient. Only took him a day and a half, would have taken us at least a couple of entire weekends. Experience matters! Could not be happier!"

"Zavala was hired primarily for floor tile replacement; but job evolved into a bathroom refresh/renovation. Floor tiling was geometric and not an easy lay. From day one to completion of the project, Mr. Zavala demonstrated a “spirit of excellence” in performing every facet of the project with attention to details; integrity, which is a rare commodity in the contractor industry and a genuine desire to insure project met both mine and his high expectations. Appreciated meticulous daily clean up until project completion. Zavala Construction (Wulian) now rests at the top of the list for my TWO preferred “go to” contractors."

"I am very pleased with the work Omar's General Contracting did on my new shed build and installation. The team was responsive, respectful, worked fast, and showed up when they said they would. They poured concrete footings, built the 8x12 shed from a kit, installed an extra window that I purchased, installed the roof, and painted the exterior. It looks great!"

"Tracey is a great front person to work with for estimating and scheduling the work. She was reachable, responsive and caring. Projects involved 1) opening an entry from hallway to bathroom and installing a door (that was a major project), 2) converting a walking closet to a den including patching up the walls and the carpet, and adding a power outlet, 3) installing a ceiling light fixture in family room, 4) fixing a couple of bedroom doors, 5) painting a few areas, and 6) installing a dimmer switch. Hugo, Tuan and Jeremy showed up on time. They were highly professional, personable, caring, and very pleasant to work with. They worked on the above projects at the same time and after one and a half days, the place looked great. They cleaned up afterwards and made sure all issues are addressed. We were very happy with the outcome and will definitely hire them again."

"We contacted Manny last minute for a move out paint to get the place ready for new tenants. He responded quickly and was able to schedule us for two days later. Manny and his crew showed up on time for the job and were very professional. They made recommendations on which walls needed painting and which walls where probably ok as is. They worked quickly and efficiently and the end result was great! We definitely recommend Manny and his crew and plan to use them for any upcoming paint jobs"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Whether you use a brush or roller depends on the size, shape, and amount of tiles. Rollers are easier to maneuver over large areas and can apply a more even coat of paint in a shorter time frame with no visible brushstrokes. Brushes are best for precision work, particularly in very small areas. If you don't want visible brushstrokes on your painted tiles, you can paint details with small foam brushes instead of bristled paint brushes.

If the hearth ends against a wall, you can use a tile cutter as you normally would. However, if the edge of your hearth ends with no surface pressing against it,you may want to look into rounded tiles. These give a smooth edge to your hearth and make sure cut edges aren’t visible. You can also see if the tile you have has pieces that have been glazed or rounded on one edge. You’d then cut the tile and place it normally, with the cut edge facing inward.

Yes, it’s possible to cut tile without a wet saw; instead, you can use an angle grinder, a glass cutter, a snap cutter, tile nippers, or a rotary tool with a tile-cutting blade. A manual tile cutter or snap cutter works well for the larger tiles that wet saws are typically used for, while smaller projects might just require nippers or a glass cutting wheel. If you’re working with large quantities of tile, however, power tools are best.

Per the International Code Council, walk-in shower floors should have a minimum slope of 1/4-inch per foot (or a 2% slope) towards the drain. The slope should be no steeper than 1/2-inch per foot (or a 4% slope). This helps safely direct water into the drain rather than all over your bathroom.

The difference between floor and wall tiles is that floor tiles generally have higher strength and porosity ratings than wall tiles. Wall tiles are typically weaker and more likely to crack or become damaged under sustained pressure like high foot traffic.

For this reason, avoid using wall tiles on floors and vice versa.
