"It gives us great pleasure to share this review of LD Landscape and Design with Angie's list. Over the years we had continuous problems with our drainage pipes/irrigation system, frequently resulting in our lawn being under water. Repeated efforts with various companies were to no avail. Fortunately, this past February we were referred to LD Landscape and Design, a company owned by Mr. Moises Lopez. Mr. Lopez and his team (Wilson and Miguel) made a full/complete diagnosis of our drainage/irrigation problems, identifying perforated drain pipes, ineffective pipe routing, and so much more. Mr. Lopez then provided us with an in-depth, clearly written analysis of what needed to be done, how long it would take, and the total cost - the good news being that the projected cost was most reasonable. Three days later the work was done - most professionally done - and for the first time our drainage/irrigation systems are working as they should be. Our experience with LD Landscape and Design, and the people who comprise it, has been OUTSTANDING! Mr. Lopez and his team demonstrated the highest level of competency, professionalism and integrity in the services they provided us. They showed up on time, worked hard, kept us informed on the work they were doing, and answered all our questions. - they truly wanted to make sure all our questions were answered and we were satisfied with the results. Accordingly, LD Landscape and Design has our strongest recommendation to anyone seeking their services. Richard and Janie Ozmun Allen"

Fountains questions, answered by experts

Yes, it is possible to make a fountain without a pump, though it may seem less intuitive and will require a bit more effort to use. In lieu of an electric pump, there are a few options including hand-cranked pumps or sprinkler systems that can work to provide water for a fountain.

Though there are a lot of factors that go into caring for a koi pond, the most important maintenance you can do is frequent water checks using a koi pond test strip that checks the water for dangerous conditions.  In addition to regular pond maintenance costs, you’ll also need to winterize your koi pond if you live in a colder area.

Costs depend on design, materials, plumbing, labor, and optional lighting or filtration features.

How many fish can call your pond home depends on the volume of the pond and the fish size. Your pond's filtration system also influences the number of fish that will thrive in a pond. A general rule of thumb is to have 1 inch of fish for every square foot in a pond that's 2 feet deep. Another rule of thumb you can follow is to have one koi fish for every 200 gallons of water or two goldfish for every 200 gallons.

Placing your water feature in direct sun can speed up evaporation, leading to pump damage and algae growth. Shade or partial shade serves as the ideal location for most water features—just watch out for tree and plant debris that may fall in and clog the pump.
