"We live on a sloping piece of property, with the majority of our windows being second story, and we have extensive landscaping around the house w/patios & decks, so logistically it is tricky, but NW Shine negotiated the obstacles, and did a superb job. The person doing the job was very professional. You would not have known there were here had it not been for sparkling windows and clean screens"

"Job was scheduled for Monday, changed to Wednesday but the 4 roofers arrived early Wednesday and stayed late each day such that the entire big job was completed by noon Friday. This included removing a large remote-control awning and reinstalling it, as well as removing a double roof, replacing all vents, replacing 11 plyboards of decking, replacing barge boards and complete clean up of the entire large project and yard. The roofers were courteous, industrious and did a brilliant job. I have referred several of my neighbors and friends to West Coast and will continue to do so."

"Dave painted our house 2 years ago and did an excellent job, so when we needed additional things done we called him and he did excellent work again. The siding work involved removing an outdoor faucet and fitting it around phone and electrical boxes. He replaced deck boards, cleaned and prepped everything, and used an "armor coat" paint that should last a long time. He cleaned and stained the fence in the front and side of the house. He is easy to work with and takes great pride in his work. Cost included all materials and was a great value. I would use him again."

"The first thing done was a complete power washing of our home with a solution that removed all traces of mildew in the old paint. Ken's paint crew showed up on time and with enough painters to complete the job in one day.  They were very careful to protect windows, plants and decking from over-spray and I could not be happier.

"I really like this company and would very much like to give them an "A" for this job. They did my new windows last Spring, and I was extremely happy with the work and professionalism. However, there were some issues this time that just weren't quite up to the standards I expected. Although the issues related to the actual work were resolved, I was very frustrated with the lack of communication and some of the work standards.
Lifetime agreed to meet the terms of another company regarding work and pricing, but with the understanding that they would remove and replace with plywood only those sections of the old siding that were necessary, and would pass the savings from plywood purchase along to me. They also assured me that, because I was a returning customer, they would treat me with extra care and provide extraordinary service.
On the positive side, they did beautiful work. I've had many compliments on the look of the house, they were careful of my property and worked around many issues with the house. I'd had an outside electrical outlet added shortly after I bought the house, which resulted in an unsightly conduit, which I wanted covered. At my request, they arranged for an electrician to coordinate with the installation of the siding so that the wiring could be concealed, and they covered the cost as part of the savings from plywood. They also had to work with a larger conduit and electrical box which could not be concealed, as well as a portion of my deck that butts up against the house, making sure that the integrity of the new siding wasn't compromised. I had purchased new downspouts and straps for my gutters, and they painted them in the shop and installed them after the siding was finished. Overall, the finished job is very high quality. I don't expect to have to re-side in my lifetime, and since the siding is pre-colored, I shouldn't have to paint for a very long time. They were able to begin work a few days earlier than expected, and, although we had a few days of rain, they were able to work through most of it. They cleaned up after each work day, sweeping sawdust and cleaning up nails and screws.
As I stated above, work actually began a little earlier than I had expected, which was encouraging to me since we were approaching the rainy season. The old siding was removed, new plywood was installed, the house was wrapped with tarpaper and a high-end moisture barrier, and the painter completed the work painting the eaves, garage door, window trim and gutters. The house then sat like that for several days, and I was told that someone had failed to order the siding on time and work was on hold. Once the siding finally arrived, the workmen returned and began the process of siding. Initially there had been three men working on the house, but because of the delay in the delivery of the siding I was told that only two would be available, as there was another job in process. This slowed down the work considerably, as it took two people to install the siding on the gable ends of the house, requiring the man who was cutting the planks to stop cutting, climb the scaffolding, and assist with the installation of the plank. This was inefficient and time-consuming.
After the work of siding installation was completed, I had to ask several times to have conduit and the cables for t.v. and internet to be reattached to the house. I also noticed that two barge rafters - one of which was new wood - had not been sanded prior to painting and had rough edges. Since the new rafter is on the very front edge of the house, it was quite unsightly. The older one was on the back of the house, but had old staples left hanging, which looked awful. Also, some of the door and window trim wasn't painted evenly, and that had to be corrected. In place of siding, pressure-treated wood was installed under the threshold of each of the three outside doors, and I had to ask specifically 2-3 times to have them painted, otherwise they would have been left as exposed wood. In fact, when the job was completed, I discovered that the one under the front door had not been done. I called to let them know, and the site foreman offered to come out and paint it, but by that time I just wanted to not have to deal with it any more, so declined and painted it myself. All of the work mentioned in this section was done over the course of many days (possibly as much as a week; I don't recall specifically), as the worker could only be here for a couple of hours each time, requiring him to return several times, often when I wasn't here or had to leave before he had finished. Each time, when I inspected the work that had been done, something had been neglected or forgotten.
To add to the frustration, communication was extremely poor. I only found out about the delay in siding delivery, for example, by calling the office when the workman didn't show up on a day that I had expected him. That was when I was told it hadn't been ordered in time and that work would be delayed. After the bulk of the work was done but the details needed to be attended to, I had to call several times to find out when I could expect the worker. Since I had to arrange my schedule to be here to provide access, this was very frustrating to me. On the final day, the site foreman did acknowledge that they had realized there was a communication problem, but I would have been happier if it had been corrected before it became an ongoing problem.

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Yes, they provide design insights that enhance space utility and visual appeal.

You can refresh a painted deck by either giving it a thorough cleaning or refinishing the deck altogether. Chipped or faded paint, as well as extensive damage, often calls for a new finish. To do this, remove the original coat of paint with a sander and add either a new coat of paint or a stain to protect the wood below.

Whether to brush or roll stain on wood depends on the project and your preference. Brushing is ideal for smaller, intricate areas and offers more control over the application, ensuring thorough coverage and penetration into the wood's grain.

Conversely, rolling is efficient for more extensive, flat surfaces and can save time. However, it is not always the best fit for textured or uneven wood. Some projects may benefit from combining both methods, using a brush for detail work and a roller for broader areas. Ultimately, the choice between brushing and rolling depends on the specific requirements of your staining project.

Whitewashing isn’t permanent, but it can last for a long, long time. When you apply it correctly or have a seasoned pro whitewash your brick, whitewashing can last for 20 to 30 years or longer. Whitewash is very durable and typically requires little maintenance, making it a great project for most DIYers.
