"Dylan Milroy went in and cleaned out the crawlspace put down plastic and dug a french drain and redirected all the downspouts so that the rain and we had now more water being drained. "Excellent experience. Compared to all the other plumbers who came out an gave an estimate I could tell that Henco new what they were doing and showed confidence. Loren was an excellent problem solver and was able to accomodate my request to move the whole soil stack 5 feet to an exterior wall. Very happy with the work. An additional nicety was they had a "build back" guy (Chad) they had available to restore surfaces and paint. Very convenient. Finally, all projects have hiccups... mishaps can happen but I am glad to say Owen was very fair and reasonable to deal with. Overall I highly recommend Henco. I have already recommended them to multiple neighborhood friends. Everyday I use the plumbing I smile."

In most cases, yes, because the large majority of basements leak or will have moisture issues at some point, and waterproofing methods can mitigate that risk or eliminate it entirely. Plus, water and moisture issues can be quite problematic, as they can lead to mold growth, rotting of building materials, structural damage, poor indoor air quality, increased electric bills, and other problems.

Most houses will have vents in the crawl space. This allows for air passage and energy retention, which in many ways can help control the temperature inside the home. If you are able to consider the cost of a crawl space encapsulation, you may not need your crawl space vents at all. 

In perfect conditions—meaning, no overexposure to the elements without roofing material on top of it—an ice and water shield can last for decades. In fact, many come with a limited lifetime warranty because they should last for a long time. If, however, the membrane is exposed to the elements during building or if there is a delay in installing the roofing material, it might only last up to 180 days if exposed to the elements. The key is to make it a layer of protection and then protect that layer by installing the roofing.

For example, it is much better to have a vented space when it’s very hot outside and your AC bills are sky-high.
