Be prepared to pay about 50% of the job before they begin, and specify that you will pay the remainder after you have seen and approved of the completed work. Ask for photos/samples of other jobs. Mel educated me about the type of oak floor we have, how to take care of them, and what is advised for proper care of the floor. He is also very knowledgeable of water-based vs oil-based finish, and can apply either type. Mel could have received a 5-star rating if his customer service matched the quality of the work."
