Now they’re saying that leveling the kitchen wasn’t included in the original scope, blaming the remaining dip on my kitchen island and fridge being “too heavy” and lacking proper support—an issue they failed to identify in the initial assessment. To properly address this problem, they’re now asking for an additional $7,500, claiming this work was never part of the original job. This feels like a classic bait-and-switch tactic, and I can’t help but feel taken advantage of. Rather than upselling, he told me that; 1. The insulation I had was hanging down all over the place, meaning it wasn't accomplishing anything, so he recommended removing it. He said that replacing it wouldn't help much and would not be cost effective. 2. Since I had no water issues the 16 mil vapor barrier wouldn't be of any value to me and the standard 6 mil material would do just fine for about $1000 less. I had asked for the right solution, not the cheapest, so I very much appreciate his recommendations. The actual job went off as scheduled with no problems. They sent me pictures, which was great, since I don't ever intend to go under there again. I also had a number of interactions with the office manager, Julie, and found her to be pleasant and responsive every time."
