"Pictures are worth a 1,000 words so I posted pictures of this project online- [*** Link removed ***] I haven't put up photos of the front yard, yet. This crew was responsive to my requests, reliable and responsible. It really was a pleasure to have them do this work. Normally I don't let contractors put their advertising signs on my property once they are done (such as a roofing company), but in this case I asked Bruce to bring a sign to me so others could see their name on the front yard project. It really is that nice and I couldn't be happier with my first use of Angie's list. Thank you to those people who wrote up a recommendation that led me to Mantz Lawn and Landscaping."

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

In Springfield, homeowners often wait too long to start clearing snow, leading to compacted, icy surfaces that are harder to remove. Overusing salt can harm concrete and nearby lawns, while piling snow against foundations may cause basement leaks as it melts. Using dull shovels or poorly maintained snow blowers also increases risk of injury and reduces efficiency during heavy snowfalls.

Helpful?

For a typical Springfield home, snow removal usually takes 30 to 60 minutes for a standard driveway, with sidewalks adding another 15 to 30 minutes. Heavier, wet snow or deep accumulation can extend this time. Larger properties or corner lots may require more effort, especially during back-to-back storms, while commercial sites often need several hours for thorough clearing.

Helpful?

In Springfield, snow removal contractors include full-service landscaping companies that offer year-round property care, specialized snow removal services for rapid response during heavy storms, and property maintenance companies that manage snow for apartment complexes or retail centers. Many homeowners also hire independent plow operators for flexible, on-demand service, while municipal contractors focus on clearing public streets and major thoroughfares.

Helpful?

Springfield residents can choose eco-friendly snow removal by using sand, beet juice-based de-icers, or calcium magnesium acetate, which are less damaging to local plants and waterways. Prioritize shoveling or snow blowing before applying any product, and use only the minimum amount needed. Well-maintained equipment and prompt clearing after each snowfall help minimize environmental impact and keep walkways safe.

Helpful?

After finishing snow removal in Springfield, thoroughly rinse equipment to prevent rust from road salt, and inspect driveways and walkways for cracks or surface damage common after freeze-thaw cycles. Sweep up leftover salt or sand to protect concrete and landscaping. Check that gutters and downspouts are clear to handle melting snow, and document any property changes for future snow removal planning.
