Customers say: Quick response

"Five Guys Property Maintenance contacted me immediately after my Angi request. Then, came to my home to give me a free estimate the same day! Three men just finished weeding, cutting, trimming, and removal. The job was done professionally and efficiently!! Their price was extremely fair. I am thrilled with the results!! Julie"

Small jobs welcome

"Anthony did a great job on my large Landscape Project. He removed all the old mulch and weed barrier and dead plants. He replaced the weed barrier and mulch with new and acquired some new plants and put them in for me. He cleaned up and painted some of my wife's ornamental pieces and planted some wildflowers for us. This is a guess but pretty sure there was about 125 feet or more of Landscape he replaced for me. He also reset all of my edging stones and found some new ones that needed replaced. He did all this for a fair price, in fact his estimate was a Thousand less than my previous estimate for the same job. I highly recommend Maximum Landscaping for any project you may need done."

"I think they treated the wrong lawn. The note they sent me via text message referenced trees and shrubs in my yard, I have none. They also did not leave a yard marker showing they had been there. Otherwise, this would have been a 5 star review."

Lawns questions, answered by experts

Most junk removal services don’t take hazardous materials, including paint, gasoline, bleach, and other chemicals. When gathering quotes, ask the company about its specific restrictions.

Yes, rotting leaves can be good for your soil. The decaying leaves release nutrients into the soil that can boost the health of your plants, and the organic matter also helps improve airflow and water drainage.

Raking is one way to remove moss from your lawn. However, if you rake live moss, it can spread and exacerbate the problem. Instead, use a moss killer, then wait a couple of weeks before raking to ensure the moss is dead and can’t spread to other areas of your lawn.

It’s unlikely your leaves are a hazard, especially if you get to them while they’re dry. However, a couple of rare risks exist. University studies suggest that decaying leaves can produce organochlorines, toxic pollutants similar to man-made PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls), so avoid keeping them in an enclosed area.

Also, leaves and compost may cause the growth of fungi that can cause diseases like histoplasmosis and aspergillosis, as well as mold spores that are unhealthy for human lungs. Again, severe issues are rare, but those with compromised immune systems or allergies to mold should wear face masks when directly handling leaves.

The best way to clean an overgrown yard is to create a multi-stage game plan, from clearing out the debris to cleaning up the edges around hardscaping and landscape curbing. Get rid of yard debris like worn furniture and broken tools first, then start trimming and raking what’s left. Mow the grass, trim the hedges, and rake leaves away. Once that’s complete, move on to more detailed work, like pulling weeds and replanting gardens.
