"My old HVAC system was close to 15 years old and I had a part go bad that would cost $1000 to replace. It was either put money into a system that was nearing the end of its typical lifespan or take that $1000 and put it towards a whole new system. I chose to bite the bullet and not throw good money after bad, as the saying goes. GAC services was already my existing HVAC provider and I never any any complaints about their service - but I still shopped around a bit.  In the end, however, GAC offered the best price. I was even able to get a 2 stage Bryant  system for less than what competitors were charging for single stage systems. Plus, I already knew that GAC provided great customer service.
On installation day "Lil J's Crew" did a great job, got the job done in about 1/2 a day, cleaned everything up, and walked me through the thermostat and how to call for the county inspection.  Everyone was friendly and willing to answer any questions.
All in all, I am happy I stayed with GAC Services. The system runs great and my electric bills are down $200 in January and February and $150 in March as compared to the last two years' bills for the same months (of course, other variables are at play - most obviously the coldness of the weather one year compared to the others). But still, my heating bills are down so that's great!
I highly recommend GAC Services!"

"I had a great experience with McCarthy. They entertained the other offers I had for HVAC replacement, agreed to what felt like a very fair price and did a great job the next day doing the replacement. I'd highly recommend them to anyone for HVAC work."

Customers say: True professional

"Excellent service from Hecomo. Technician did not try to push purchase of a new HVAC system even though there were major issues with our system, feel comfortable while talking with an advisor. Very knowledgeable, patiently, friendly and nice person, answer all my questions. Later on, we decided to replace the whole new system with fair price and wasn’t ripped off as others. Very professional and well trained technician. I will definitely use them again."

"I got four estimates before choosing Michael Bonsby. They were the only HVAC contractor to actually measure my house and recommended a system based on those measurements, which turned out to be a smaller and more affordable unit than my existing system. The other three just assumed the existing system was properly sized and proposed replacing it."

Small jobs welcome

"Outstanding service and work. Very happy I chose them. I had an air handler/HVAC unit that was old and dirty. They came in, took it apart, cleaned/sprayed/lubricated the unit, put it back together, and it works so much better. Thank you!"

"Purchased the Angie's deal coupon for $250 for full HVAC cleaning and all vents and returns.  During cleaning they found some black mold and recommended deep cleaning for additional $250.  They showed us pics of where the mold and other dirty stuff was and we decided to have them clean it since I doubt duct cleaning was ever performed for this house.  We were satisfied with the result.  The cleaner was prompt and explained everything in detail.  We were satisfied with the service.

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

AC leaks are common, and an HVAC pro can usually fix them. You may be able to resolve some leaks on your own, but a professional HVAC technician should handle most AC leak repair. If left ignored, an AC leak could cause serious damage to your system or leave you with expensive water damage, usually leading to more costly repairs or replacements.

To reduce AC startup power for a whole-house generator, install a soft start kit or hard start capacitor, which lowers the initial surge by gradually ramping up the compressor. Using a smart load manager can also help by staggering startup loads, preventing a system overload and future costly repairs.

While both have advantages, a split system is generally cheaper than a ducted one. Because they are less invasive to install, the labor costs are lower, and they can be more energy efficient. But, a ducted system might be worth the investment if you run it more frequently.

There are two main reasons your furnace and AC are turning on at the same time. The first could be that you’re confusing the furnace with the blower. The blower is located in the furnace and will turn on to distribute cool air from the air conditioner through the ductwork in the home. This is normal. If the actual furnace is turning on at the same time as the AC and hot and cool air are coming into the home, it could be a result of incorrect writing to a new thermostat or new systems.

Yes, ventless portable air conditioners exist, and not all standard portable air conditioners must be vented through a window.

Ventless portable units, often called evaporative coolers, do not have exhaust hoses. They use a water reservoir and a cooling pad to add moisture to the air, making it feel cooler. These units work best in dry climates because humid areas cannot absorb much additional moisture.

For standard portable air conditioners that do require venting, a window is not the only option; they can also be vented through a door, wall, or ceiling. However, it is essential to vent these units properly. Running a standard portable AC without venting it is counterproductive because it needs to expel heat to cool the room. Failing to do so will only increase the room's temperature.
