40 years experience in building, repairing, remodeling, inspecting, deck, porches, gazebos, walkways, roofs. New, existing, needing repairs, I solve issues and make things right. Not production. Each job is custom handled. Inspections are $100-250 with a full document and photo report and solution to the issue. Have me fix the issue and the inspection is free. I have seen everything, good and bad and have taken care of thousands problem deck and porches. I see what most don't even think about. Sounds like a sales pitch? It is, lol. I am 60 yo and still love getting dirty and just well, know my stuff. Lot's of referrals if needed. Best to Please Text Me First and tell me your name! Too many solicitor calls and I rarely answer if I don't know the number, which happens every day, all day. I will promptly text you back and ask You, what a good time to call back might be. Located In Mt Airy, Frederick County, but will travel to Howard, Carroll and MoCo, no prob. I am the person who gets calls after someone else has made things worse, so call before that happens please. Most contractors in the area know me and will also recommend me as they don't have the time for small jobs that require Patience. That's it! Hope to hear from anyone in need soon as me and my guys are always ready.

"Beautiful work, very detail. I would definitely recommend him."

"I contacted JV's Handyman Services through Angie's List Website and about 15 days ago, he came and quoted me a price for the work. He asked for a deposit and I gave him $500 as initial payment, he promised to get the job done, he scheduled and came back on Sept. 11th, he said that he needs to get some more additional materials and asked for more money, I gave $200, then went out to home depot, said that he will be back in half an hour, but after getting my money, he never came back and never showed up at all. I made hundred calls and hundred messages but he is not returning my calls and when called with a different number, heard my voice and totally hanged up, never takes my calls, totally ignoring my calls, and he already took $700 from me but never shows up to do the work. I don't want him to come into my house again, and all I want now is to get my money back so I can hire another company to finish the job for me."

Mailbox Repair questions, answered by experts

When browsing the hardware store, you may wonder about wood putty versus wood filler. Wood putty is made with plastic adhesive, whereas wood filler is made from sawdust or wood products.

The main difference is that people use wood filler to fix the interior portions of wood. Wood putty contains chemicals that could damage the inside of wood, so it's best for exterior sections. If the crack or hole goes into the middle of the lumber, it's the right product for the job.

To treat sun-damaged furniture, clean the surface thoroughly to remove dirt and debris. Next, assess the damage: Consider refinishing or applying a protective sealant for faded finishes. Apply furniture oil or conditioner to restore moisture to cracked or dry wood. Remember, the best way to treat your furniture is to prevent damage in the first place. Regular maintenance and preventive measures will keep your furniture looking its best. Lastly, it may be best to consult a professional furniture restorer or refinisher for expert repairs and restoration in severe cases.

Not always—heavily worn or broken furniture often isn’t worth repairing or refinishing (if it’s even possible). While some damage can be repaired and some of the visual appeal restored, major flaws, such as structural issues, can’t be fixed as easily. If you still want a cost-saving furniture refinishing project rather than purchasing all new, consider shopping for similar secondhand pieces at thrift stores, garage sales, and estate sales.

Like stains, the best way to prevent cracks is by treating them as quickly as possible. You can apply a protection cream or conditioner, which will fill in and plump any gaps or wrinkles that may start to form.

Yes, there are several wood filler products on the market that look like wood. Your best bet is to take a cabinet door to your local hardware store to match the appropriate wood filler to your door. Some brands make filler that is masked to look like wood and can also be sanded, cut, stained, and painted.
