"After the initial consultation we decided to expand the job significantly to have the decks washed and painted, the exterior of the house pressure washed and painted, decaying wood trim removed and replaced, critical areas re-caulked, wall paper removed from 2 bathrooms and the dining room, those rooms plus three more rooms repainted, several water damaged ceilings repaired and repainted, one wall in the basement removed due to traces of mold and replaced and repainted, four short wooden columns outside repaired, water proofed and repainted, and a number of other small items that needed painting were also addressed. This was a huge job that was completed to our satisfaction over several weeks. That the job completion was this long was due in part to some rainy weather, to job and vacation conflicts, and to availability of necessary materials. When it was apparent that this job had grown so much that the original job completion date might be delayed, Danny marshaled extra workers and with that beehive of activity he was able to complete the job on time and to our satisfaction."

"The project went pretty well overall. Jeff removed a tissue paper covered with wall paper paste from the bathroom walls by scraping it and then mudding in the imperfections in the wall. He also removed old tiolet paper holder and towel rack and drywalled those areas. The bathroom was then repainted. The scraping created more dust than I was expecting. He cleaned up after the job, but the dust really settled into baseboards and six panel doors. We are happy with the job that was done. The price was good."

"It went great.  The walls in one bathroom were in rough shape owing to wallpaper removal efforts on my part.  I thought Pro Decor would just paint the room but they exceeded expectations with the skim coat.  The ceiling in the kitchen had a bad seam where a wall had been removed and badly patched by a contractor.  Pro Decor dug out those bad results and fixed it correctly.  It all looks great and the price was equally great."

"Two gentleman arrived promptly at the appointed time.
They painted my den.  The paint job is great, but I thought they would remove some type of sinker for some screws which the previous owner had put in the walls, and instead they just painted over them.   My husband asked them if they could paint the master bath sometime also and they said they could paint it the same day as the den was a small room and they had time.
We had already had the bathroom professionally skim coated after removing wall paper which the previous owner had in the room.  Both of us were less than pleased with the paint job done in the master bath.  Paint on the new flooring, the wood work, the cabinetry and I spent a good 8 hours removing it.
We paid an extra $100 to the gentlemen to paint it and they did a much poorer job than in the room we had contracted to be painted.  Neither my husband nor I understand why there is such a difference in the painting of the two rooms.
The contracted price ($89) was for one room  and to have paid more ($100) for the 2nd room which was not painted equally as well was very disappointing.

"Joel Thomas was very responsive to my request for a quote and provided a quote within two days of visiting our home. He was able to schedule our job within one week of selecting his company. Joel and his crew were very courteous, clean and professional. There were minimal minor paint splatters and no blips on the ceiling. Due to the paint color, it was difficult to determine what areas needed touching up. However, upon bringing this to Joel's attention, he immediately offered to come back and touch it up or reduce the price accordingly. We will definitely hire Joel again for future jobs!"

"The 2 men arrived on time and completed the work within the time frame. Repaired walls where wallpaper pulled off the drywall paper. Very fair about the time and made sure they had done the work to my satisfaction before they left."

"It was wonderful! John & Patrick met me at my sister's house. They removed the doors and loaded the fridge on to their truck. They got it to my house 4 blocks away. They unloaded it, put the doors back on and got it in place without a scratch! Perfect!"

Wallpaper Removal questions, answered by experts

Wallpaper lasts an average of around 15 years, but there is some variance. The type of wallpaper matters, as vinyl wallpaper tends to last the longest—sometimes 20 years or more—while a peel-and-stick wallpaper, which is the easiest to install for DIYers, will usually only last for around five years. Exposure to high humidity, smoke, and UV rays from sunlight can also limit the lifespan of your wallpaper, as can heavy traffic in the installation area.

Yes, you can pay someone to strip wallpaper. Before you hang new wallpaper, you should hire a local wallpaper removal service to prep the surface properly. Wallpaper removal pros cost $0.55 to $1.50 per square foot or $500 to $700 per room. Prices vary by room size and removal technique, as some options are more labor-intensive.

If you’re installing new wallpaper and have leftover glue, you can remove unused wallpaper paste from the bucket or pan it’s in by letting it dry. If it’s an oil-based paste, seal it in a plastic bag and throw it in the garbage. Otherwise, toss the leftover wallpaper paste in the trash. Although it’s water-soluble, don’t rinse unused wallpaper paste down the sink because it could dry in the pipes and cause a blockage.

You may end up with extra wallpaper once your project is finished. Hang on to that wallpaper, as you may need to use it to patch up areas that get damaged later on. If you have a lot of excess wallpaper, try getting creative with it. You can use it to line the inside of a cabinet or drawers, for example.

Because poison ivy and similar plants can cause potentially life-threatening allergic reactions depending on your sensitivity, it's best to hire a professional to remove it. Hiring a local lawn care service or other professional also increases your chances of successful eradication so that you don't have to deal with the issue again several months down the road.
