"The project went pretty well overall. Jeff removed a tissue paper covered with wall paper paste from the bathroom walls by scraping it and then mudding in the imperfections in the wall. He also removed old tiolet paper holder and towel rack and drywalled those areas. The bathroom was then repainted. The scraping created more dust than I was expecting. He cleaned up after the job, but the dust really settled into baseboards and six panel doors. We are happy with the job that was done. The price was good."

"It went great.  The walls in one bathroom were in rough shape owing to wallpaper removal efforts on my part.  I thought Pro Decor would just paint the room but they exceeded expectations with the skim coat.  The ceiling in the kitchen had a bad seam where a wall had been removed and badly patched by a contractor.  Pro Decor dug out those bad results and fixed it correctly.  It all looks great and the price was equally great."

"Marcos and his crew did an outstanding job for me.  I'm picky, and was thrilled with the work performed.  I am a repeat customer. (he stained my deck last year)  This time, he removed wallpaper and painted my dining room. This was not an easy task, but the end result is amazing. He also painted my entire interior, fixed all the holes in the walls, and even painted the crown molding. He did a great job with the 2 story foyer and family room.  My interior looks like a brand new home. I highly recommend this provider! Thanks!

"We were so pleased with this company! I originally contacted Manny about a 16 hr Big Deal for wallpaper removal and booked an appt the following week. We then got ahold of a wallpaper steamer and removed the wallpaper ourselves. This resulted in a huge mess. The steamer made the primer under the wallpaper bubble and pop. I contacted Manny and explained we removed the wallpaper but now needed paint and repair services. He was very understanding and accommodating, which I appreciated since we changed our appt from a 16 hr job to an 8 hr job. In 8 hours, they were able to apply drywall mud to damaged areas, sand, apply 1 coat of primer and 1 coat of paint. The walls look great! We will definitely contact them again in the future for drywall repair and painting!"

"Hole was cut into textured ceiling in order to install a new bath fan. Luther was called to provide an estimate. He scheduled quickly and arrived promptly. He thoroughly described what would be required and provided a reasonable bid. Scheduling was a bit complicated as this was a small job that they tried to fit in between other jobs. Once scheduled, the crew arrived promptly. They covered all surfaces to/from the bathroom and within the bathroom to protect from damage and did excellent work. The textures are a close match to others in the home. They explained how long to allow the work to dry before painting."

"It was wonderful! John & Patrick met me at my sister's house. They removed the doors and loaded the fridge on to their truck. They got it to my house 4 blocks away. They unloaded it, put the doors back on and got it in place without a scratch! Perfect!"

Wallpaper Removal questions, answered by experts

Wallpaper steamers can be very helpful for removing large sections of wallpaper more easily, but they’re not always a good idea for DIYers. The drywall behind your wallpaper is meant to stay dry, and excessive moisture from improper technique with a wallpaper steamer can leave you with severe wall damage. Drywall also retains moisture, which could result in mold growth over time. It’s best to hire a professional to remove your wallpaper with a steamer to avoid wall damage and related moisture issues.

We don’t recommend wallpapering over older paper. That’s because creating layers of glue can invite bubbling or excess moisture on the wall’s surface. You should also prime your wall before applying wallpaper and smooth the wall as much as you can, and another layer of wallpaper complicates this process.

Limewash can be removed from brick, but the method of removal will depend on how long the limewash has been on the brick. If the limewash has fully dried—which happens after about five days—you’ll need to use a diluted muriatic acid mixture to remove it. If there are multiple coats of limewash, you may need to apply the acid mixture several times to fully remove it from the brick.

You may end up with extra wallpaper once your project is finished. Hang on to that wallpaper, as you may need to use it to patch up areas that get damaged later on. If you have a lot of excess wallpaper, try getting creative with it. You can use it to line the inside of a cabinet or drawers, for example.

Peel-and-stick wallpaper is designed to be removed without damaging walls, making it a good choice for renters or temporary design changes. However, damage to paint or drywall can occur under certain conditions. To prevent issues, the wall surface must be properly prepared before application—it should be clean, smooth, dry, and correctly primed or painted. Applying wallpaper to a freshly painted surface can cause the paint to peel off during removal. Additionally, removing the wallpaper too quickly or aggressively can also cause damage. For best results, always follow the manufacturer's instructions for both application and removal.
