"I can’t recommend Joe enough. He was was fast, reliable, and made sure the job was done right (fixing mistakes from a previous plumber I used). It is hard finding good contractors these days and I will be using this company for any plumbing needs in the future."

"When I arrived home on August 31st at around 10:30 pm. I noticed water leaking from my air conditioning unit and was damaging my hard wood floor already. I immediately texted Charlie and asked him if he was available to come fix it. He replied whiting minutes and told me that he could be at my house the next day around noon. He arrived at 12:30 the next day and started working on my air conditioner. He had to cut the drainage pipes because they were clogged and were causing the water to leak. It took him about 1 hour and 30 minutes to fix it. I highly recommend Charlie's Plumbing Heating & Sewerage Service Ing. He was very professional and knowledgeable about the job. He was at my house at the promised time, although I wasn't expecting him to arrived at that time. This is the second time I hire Charlie's Plumbing Heating & Sewerage Service Ing. Thank you Cahrlie. Joe."

"The plumber that came out, Johnny, was very professional and we felt comfortable with him in our home, during this pandemic. He did the work we needed and explained everything he was doing to us. We are very happy with the work he did and would definitely call Reliance again for all of our plumbing needs."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Identifying your existing pipe materials determines whether you need a spot repair or a full repiping. Because Wheeling sits on expansive clay soils that shift seasonally, knowing your ground conditions is essential for underground plumbing work. Additionally, check if your property sits in a flood zone or utilizes an overhead sewer system, as this drastically changes the drainage design required by Illinois building codes.

Helpful?

Before beginning plumbing work in Wheeling, secure the necessary building permits for projects like water heater replacements or sewer line repairs. Hire a licensed contractor to ensure all work meets Illinois state codes. If your project involves exterior excavation, state law strictly mandates calling 811 at least three business days prior to digging. Finally, coordinate with local public works if you must shut off the municipal water service line.

Helpful?

Select freeze-resistant materials like flexible PEX tubing for supply lines in unheated areas to combat harsh Wheeling winters. For underground drains, install standard PVC Schedule 40 to accommodate shifting clay soils. When replacing older water service lines, use copper or approved plastic pipe to comply with IL state standards. Always verify that your chosen plumbing materials are fully certified for potable water use.

Helpful?

Document your home’s build decade to help contractors anticipate specific pipe materials used in older Wheeling properties. Record the age and fuel source of your water heater, and note the locations of your main water shutoff and sewer cleanout. You should also write down your basement type, any history of sewer backups, and existing water quality issues before scheduling any plumbing services in IL.

Helpful?

Mandatory inspections extend plumbing projects in Wheeling into multiple visits. When rough-in inspections are required, contractors must stop work until an inspector approves the progress. Discovering deteriorated clay sewer lines or severe freeze-related pipe damage also expands the project scope. Additionally, coordinating a municipal water shutoff at the curb stop adds scheduling time, especially during the busy spring renovation season across Illinois.
