When temperatures dropped to -50 with wind chill, the pipes to our basement bathroom sink froze. And as soon as everything began to thaw, (on Friday night) we found that we had a ruptured hot water pipe. Water was shooting out of the wall all over the bathroom. When it became clear that our usual plumber wasn't going to show up on Saturday, I frantically called half-a-dozen plumbers from Angie's List. Only Charlie got back to me and agreed to show up after his next job. On a day that he was clearly being overwhelmed with calls from all over the city, Charlie kept his word and showed up with his partner Dimitri. They quickly figured out there were no other leaks and repaired the pipe. On top of it, Charlie spotted two other unrelated plumbing issues in our HVAC room. They were minor now but could have turned into bigger problems down the road. His thoroughness and attention to detail allowed him to spot these hidden problems and save us headaches down the road. We had our water working in under an hour (on a Saturday evening!) and he charged a very fair price given the demands upon his time. He left our house at 5pm, his phone blowing up from other customers. I asked if he was going to have an end to the day soon, but he said he still had hours to go...he had promised other worried homeowners that he would help them today. THAT's the kind of dedication I want from my plumber. Call Charlie with confidence.

After trying several home remedies towards the end of a week we decided to secure professional help on a Saturday. Charlie returned our call within minutes and arranged to come towards the end of the day on Saturday. He explained what he was doing, was efficient, discovered and replaced an unrelated rusted pipe and cleaned up the inevitable unrestrained water from nearby surfaces.

Charlie’s was great when I got him. But since I called him and left messages and never received a call back so I don't even know if they're still in business or not. He did a nice job, nice fair price. So I tried to re-contact him when I had plumbing issues and I haven't heard from him not yet. I would use him again if I could catch him. Yeah if he'd answer the phone yeah sure I'd use him again. He was great. Oh I don't remember how long it took, so other than that I don't know how long it took him.

I would say it was between $400 and $500. He was really good, he was very competitive. We haven’t lived in our place yet since he did the work, but I’ve used it a couple of times and it seems to be working fine. I think I called somebody that day and he was out the next day. He looked at it that day and came out and did the work that same day basically. He was awesome! Punctuality was great, it worked out perfectly. The whole thing was an “A”, there wasn’t any bad part about it to be honest. I have referred him already. What he did exceptionally well is that he came out and looked at the problem and he offered up basically three solutions, that any of them would work. They were also viable, but he also came up with a fourth solution based off what I was looking for. So, I think he was just very thorough and understand as to what I was looking for. It took him a half a day to complete the work. He cleaned up completely. The place was a mess, it was a construction zone, so he was great. He was fast, thorough, responsive and very knowledgeable.

Great fast efficient work. Didn't over charge because it was after hours. Highly recommend Charlie!

Beyond my expectations

When I arrived home on August 31st at around 10:30 pm. I noticed water leaking from my air conditioning unit and was damaging my hard wood floor already. I immediately texted Charlie and asked him if he was available to come fix it. He replied whiting minutes and told me that he could be at my house the next day around noon. He arrived at 12:30 the next day and started working on my air conditioner. He had to cut the drainage pipes because they were clogged and were causing the water to leak. It took him about 1 hour and 30 minutes to fix it. I highly recommend Charlie's Plumbing Heating & Sewerage Service Ing. He was very professional and knowledgeable about the job. He was at my house at the promised time, although I wasn't expecting him to arrived at that time. This is the second time I hire Charlie's Plumbing Heating & Sewerage Service Ing. Thank you Cahrlie. I had a slow leak/dripping valve and the main shutoff valve was original and in need of replacement as it was very old and I was afraid of breaking off the handle or it failing when needed. There was also a corroded section of galvanized pipe coming directly out of the old valve so I was worried about it potentially failing at an especially inconvenient time and being unprepared for future emergencies.
Charlie and his assistant showed up as scheduled for their appointment and completed the replacement with an improved configuration. 
Charlie offered some extra observations and pieces of information and advice not all directly related to the job and answered all my questions about the plumbing work.
I was happy to be able to get this done through Charlie's as he was very pleasant to work with.

Shower drainage is sealed and I'm very happy I'm showering in the master shower again?

I had a serious problem with my pipes making loud noises; there was leaky pipe as well as leaky radiators.  Charles Gross was so friendly and personable that I was impressed and strongly felt that he would be an excellent choice to
correct my issues as well as service my boiler. I was correct. He did me a great service in which I cannot thank him
enough.  I will recommend him to anybodythat needs plumbing service as well as use him in the future for all my
plumbing needs.  I will be placing his information of my refrigerator for future use.

Charlie is very responsive and works well with our tenant's schedules.  We have been impressed with the quality of the work and he always goes above and beyond to ensure that our tenants remain safe.

My experience with Charlie was great. I accidentally drilled a hole in the gas line that feeds all appliances in our home on a Saturday morning when trying to drill in to hang a TV mount. I knew enough to immediate turn the gas off and call our gas company who came out quickly and locked my meter...this meant no gas to appliances (oven, hot water, dryer, heat, etc.) until it was fixed. I jumped on Angie's list to find someone close who may be able to work weekends, called several places, and left several voicemails.
Charlie was the only one to call back and came over to check out the issue within a couple hours on a Saturday. He looked at everything, provided me with some background info on what he'd need to do, and instructed me on what I could do to make the job go quickly when he returned in the morning. Charlie and Bernie came over Sunday morning and had the pipe repaired within 2 hours max. I was able to get the work inspected that same day and have our gas turned back on.
Charlie was friendly and thorough, and educated me on what he was doing throughout his work. Any time you need "emergency" service on a weekend it's going to be expensive, but I feel that Charlie's price for more than fair for the work done and the quickness in which he came out to fix our problem.
I plan to recommend Charlie to others in our townhouse community and suggest you give him a call for your next job.

The plumbing on the lower level of my place went haywire a couple of weeks ago and there was a smelly overflow of water coming out of the drain where my furnace and hot water heater drained condensation.  I called Charlie in a bit of a panic and left a message.  I waited a couple of hours and called back, and he picked up to let me know he was working on another job and would call me back.  Charlie called back around 9:30pm and told me that the issue is most likely related to my sump pump.  I told Charlie I had to leave for work at a certain time the next day so he said he could come over in the morning.  In the meanwhile, he told me not to run any water on the lower level.  
When Charlie came over, he checked the electrical connection first, which was fine, and eventually found out that the sump pump had died.  So right away, he ran out to grab a new one and came back quickly to begin replacing the pump.  When he tested the new sump pump, it still didn't work, and he ended up finding a clog in the pipes.  He fixed that issue right away.  Charlie finished right by the time I had to leave for work.  
Throughout the process, he took the time to explain what he was doing and gave me some tips along the way, which was much appreciated by this first time home buyer.  It was nice to experience someone so thorough and nice... Plus, Charlie gave me a good price on the services.  It's nice to know he's close by, too.  I'd give him a call again if I ran into any other plumbing issues.

Charlie is a top-notch guy, super friendly, and most importantly, very honest.  I had initially called him because I thought my 7-year water heater was ready to be replaced (pilot was no longer lighting after having months of issues).  After telling him what was going on, he said I didn't need to replace the water heater, probably just the thermocouple / ignitor.  I called him at around 9.30am, and he was out here by around 12pm.   He took a quick look, confirmed his suspicion, and left to pick up the parts and install them.  After that was fixed, I showed him an issue with my leaking toilet which he repaired as well. I couldn't have asked for better service, and will be referring to friends/family and calling him again next time.  Thanks Charlie.

Charlie provided excellent service. He worked me into his schedule at very short notice with work that needed to be done before I took off for vacation.

I have a powder room that is above an unheated cellar entryway. In the winter the plumbing supply lines that run under this space would freeze. After tearing away insulation I realized these pipes were very old and also were full of various spigot valves for no apparent reason. Charlie recommended replacing them with new pipes with now valves in the cold area. He replaced them with galvanized pipes because of the higher PSI threshold. He installed independent shut off valves in my basement so I could turn these supplies off in the event of a freeze. Everything went perfectly - I use Charlie for all my plumbing needs and always will. He's a busy guy so he's not always immediately available -but I've found he's worth the wait.
