"This was phase 2 of 3 of my window and door project. I installed another patio door and 2 bathroom windows with privacy glass. Gus had his team replace all the rotted wood and add new aluminum capping on the exterior. The products came in earlier than expected and they were able to install everything well ahead of schedule. Again, I am so pleased my neighbor referred Lifetime to me as Gus was unbelievable to work with."

"Premier replaced all of the windows in my North Aurora townhome as well as the rear exterior door. Even though I had done A LOT of research before Pat came out to provide the bid, I can't say enough about how thorough and patient he was in explaining the installation process and the various features of the windows. After he left I knew if the price was reasonably close to the other bids I wanted to work with Premier. The installation crew was also professional, courteous, and competent, and they worked efficiently to get the job done."

"Working directly with the owner was great...no shady salespeople trying to upsell things, scam you, or assume you know nothing. If it's the owner (instead of some commission-driven salesperson), you know that their name and reputation are on the line. Karl was upfront and responsive. I had a sliding glass door replacement and had to have rotten wood removed and replaced to align the door. The crew was on time, clean, and diligent. And overall, a good value as well. Recommended!"

"When my wife and I were looking to reface the front of our home, we selected James Hardie for the siding material. In the weeks following, we had received installation quotations from several siding companies in the area. The difference in price surprised us as well as the quality of the overall quote packages. Price deltas as much as 50% and quotation packages from a single page to full document portfolios with pictures of our home. It was clear from the beginning that the Siding & Window Group, LTD sales team was a step above the rest. They listened to what we wanted and suggested many alternatives to make the front of our home look even better. They did offer us less expensive alternatives for each of the options, while explaining the pros and cons of each. They also took the time to offer their opinion why one option may look better overall. The installation team was outstanding. It was a very rainy period and working in sloppy and windy conditions was not easy. Yes, there were weather delays, but safety was also a major concern for the installers, and this was clearly communicated to us. Given the very sloppy conditions, the work was done in a professional manner and the crew did their best to keep the area clean. Our project was very challenging with many special details which added complexity. I am also a Quality Engineer and demand the highest-level of performance. This was a pleasure working with the Siding & Window Group’s team as they were open to any of my inputs and comments and took the time to discuss them as the project proceeded. Almost a year after completing the project, there were some areas which needed the caulking to be touched up. A simple phone call to the company and all issues were resolved. Siding & Window Group is also a James Hardie Elite Preferred Installer. Now that our project is completed, we see how important this is. Many of the homes in the area also have similar siding and it is clear, that Siding & Window Group does it the “right way”. The flashing is correct, the gaps are the correct spacing, and caulking is applied only where it should be. Most of the neighbors have stopped by to tell us how wonderful the front of our house looks. This is the ultimate confirmation that you did it right and chose the right contractor. We truly found an outstanding siding company with Siding & Window Group, LTD. Their communications between their team members and my wife and I was outstanding. But no review is complete without a suggestion for improvement. Siding and Window Group works in a departmental organization. Sales does their part, installers do theirs, and logistic makes sure the material is delivered and on site when needed. Although this make for a very efficient operation and project, we would like to see the Sales team on site at the beginning of the project and maybe at the end for a final follow up. This is by no means a negative input, but when you are the best at what you do, you always need to be asking, “what I could do to improve more.” In the end, you pay for what you get and the Siding and Window Group, LTD is worth every dollar!"

"Had a great experience with Real Seal from beginning to end. Initial consultation to solution for seepage in corner of our basement resulted in drain tile option with new sump pit given our specific situation. The work was scheduled and completed several weeks later. The crew was very professional and made sure the work was done to our satisfaction. I would highly recommend Real Seal."

Glaziers questions, answered by experts

To tell if a window is single or double-pane, focus on the edge. Double-pane windows have two glass layers separated by a spacer, which you can usually see around the edges. For single-pane windows, it’s just one sheet of glass. Another easy trick: shine a light at the window—single-pane glass reflects once, while double-pane glass reflects twice. Lastly, if you feel both sides of the glass on a cold day, double-paned windows will feel warmer because of the insulating gap between the panes.

Options include tempered, laminated, and tinted glass for various needs.

Rubbing alcohol on its own will not remove scratches from glass. You can, however, combine rubbing alcohol with baking soda—in a one-to-one mixed ratio—to create a paste that will help get minor scratches out of glass.

Whether it's better to repair or replace a broken mirror depends on its size, value, and the extent of the damage. For small, inexpensive mirrors, replacement is often the better choice, as the average repair cost of around $200 can be close to the price of a new one. However, for large mirrors—like those over a bathroom vanity or large floor mirrors—repair is usually more cost-effective. A new large mirror can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars, while repairs typically range from $50 to $200. You should also consider the mirror's age and sentimental value. Antique mirrors and family heirlooms are often priceless and irreplaceable, making repair the most sensible or only option.

White vinegar, water, and baking soda create a natural cleaning solution that is highly effective against brown stains on the oven door. Mix one cup of baking soda, one-fourth cup of water, and one teaspoon of vinegar into a paste. Spread it evenly onto the oven glass and let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes. Then, scrape the mixture off with a plastic spatula. Wipe the glass with white vinegar to remove any remaining baking soda.
