"Excellent! It is a Family owned business. Matt is very personable and explained everything with the whole process. I needed someone right away, and he genuinely seemed like he wanted to help. He fit us in his schedule immediately, even right before Memorial weekend. We got results very quickly, within 2-3 days and we were able to move along closing on our house. I would definitely recommend them as well as the testing for your home."

"Rapid mold services and Augustin were absolutely amazing!!! We had extensive mold in our kitchen and they worked endlessly to remediate it all while keeping costs as low as possible. They worked in a timely manner, kept us up to date and educated through everything they did, and had excellent communication. I would recommend them time and time again!"

"I would be remiss if I didn't take the time to write a review for Green Home Solutions. I was in a total quandary when I spotted black mold on a baseboard in one of our bedrooms. I knew immediately that we had to have this checked out since my wife uses that room a lot when I snore. Not knowing who to call, I went on a neighborhood website and found the info for Green Home. I immediately called and was in touch with Autumn and then Jim within one hour. We set up a testing meeting and Jim was there at the exact time and was ready to go. After some pleasantries (and he is a friendly guy) he got to work checking out our entire home and that bedroom in particular. He used very high-tech equipment and pinpointed the spot with the mold. We determined that the window on that wall had rotted seals and was surely the source of water getting in. Jim left and within 2 days I had the complete report of what he found and a detailed report on the remediation. I quickly okayed the project and we had a date the next week for work to begin. Again, Jim and his assistant were right on time and set everything up to begin the remediation process. Let me add, at this point, that they set everything up to cause the least amount of mess and dust to any other part of the house. They got to work and within that day had the wall out and identified the mold and its source. They also found some mold in the attic and identified those sources as defective vents from bathrooms. Jimâ s friend Dean, a roofer, identified those problems and will be remediating those issues. After the entire process of removal was over I still had some questions and Jim came out again the next day with a new HEPA unit and helped me clean dust from the room. A week later his wife, Autumn, was out to do a final check of mold levels in the bedroom and attic. We are now in the clear (no pun intended). Being a senior citizen I deal with a lot of home repair people and Jim Blandi is one of the best, nicest and most professional company owners you will deal with. GHS gets my 100% endorsement. "My review is tiered because the overall service seems to run on tiers. The technician was great. Very personable and professional. 5 stars for his work. Your tests get sent to the lab. The lab explains the results and recommends a company for a DIY solution. This is where things start to fall apart. The company you get referred to has abysmal reviews and the sales pitch feels extremely predatory. That taints my opinion of the lab results which would be teamed up with a business they probably shouldn't recommend. We're planning on either an independent company locally to get a quote from for any remediations we will take or even see what home depot has to offer. In any event please read the reviews of BioCide, the company they will recommend you use. We're still not sure we even have a real problem if they are working together."

"Arc Insulation went above and beyond our expectations. Chris was such a pleasure to work with and was very patient with all of my questions and concerns. We did spray foam insulation and had several companies come out to give us a quote. No one seemed to have the knowledge or customer service Arc Insulation was able to provide. Luis performed the actual spray foam insulation and did a wonderful job. Our home is now night and day with comfort levels. We could not be happier with this company and will use them in the future for insulating our crawl space. I would recommend them to anyone looking to have spray foam insulation done right."

Mold Testing and Remediation questions, answered by experts

Yes, it is generally unhealthy and can be dangerous to live in a damp basement. The damp air can negatively affect your breathing and lungs, and the moisture promotes mold growth and pest infestations. Inhaling mold spores or waste particles from insects and rodents attracted to the moisture can be hazardous. This damp, moldy air can also circulate into your main living area. It is crucial to resolve any moisture problems and implement preventative measures before using your basement as a living space.

The purpose of crawl space encapsulation is to prevent mold by blocking moisture and reducing humidity. If the vapor barrier is properly installed, it significantly reduces the chance of mold developing within the crawl space. However, mold can sometimes grow behind the encapsulation material, but it will be sealed away from the main area. Additionally, moisture can still condense inside the encapsulated space, so if you notice excess humidity, installing a dehumidifier is recommended to prevent mold and mildew growth.

Unfortunately, mold can grow pretty much anywhere, on any kind of surface. However, you’re most likely to see it in damp areas like basements or bathrooms, as well as anywhere there has been a water leak. Consult a local mold specialist to determine if certain areas of your home are prone to mold based on climate and other factors.

Mold in HVAC ducts is a relatively common issue that homeowners struggle with—especially in humid climates or homes with poor ventilation. Moisture from condensation, combined with dust and organic debris, creates the perfect environment for mold growth. Homes with high humidity, leaky ducts, or clogged drains are more prone to this issue. Regular inspections and proper HVAC maintenance significantly reduce the risk of mold developing in your ducts.

Some causes of brown well water—like excess tannins or dissolved iron—don’t pose a health risk. In other cases, harmful bacteria might be the culprit. If your well water has suddenly turned brown, it’s a good idea to use a home water test kit to get a better sense of what’s going on with your water. Consider calling a professional for an expert opinion before drinking the water and hoping for the best.
