"I contacted two tree trimming companies. Bailey was easy to schedule the appointments, the estimator was prompt and quickly provided his estimate for services, and their prices were reasonable especially when compared to the other company. I also appreciated that they had set prices for arborist reports. I would definitely use Bailey again."

"

The crew showed up on time, were very nice and professional.

They made me feel confident that were not going to fall the trees on my house. I was impressed how accurate they were when the trees did fall. It's a very dangerous job but they made it look so easy. They worked very hard and steady and didn't stop until all the work was done. I felt comfortable with the work they were doing. They finished the job in the time frame they said they would. They cut all the wood into fire place size logs. They hauled away all debris from property. They left my property clean and all the work was done perfectly. I'm a very happy customer!  :)

"Can't go wrong with LD Tree Care! I called for an estimate and William came that day, they did the work 2 days later and they did an unbelievable job for a very good price. I got 1 big tree removed and 3 trimmed- they managed to dig up the superficial roots and haul everything away. Highly recommend"

"After not managing to even to get an estimate from local arborists, I contacted Bell's service. They came to give a free estimate even on a Saturday on the promised time. After deciding to contract their services, they were on time, did the job without taking a break and did nice clean up.

"Great service. I called Genesis on Saturday, Edward was here Monday morning to assess a pair of 40'+ Maple trees that were in need of some serious trimming. His team was onsite first thing the next day, and had completed the trimming disposal, and cleanup with a few hours the work was complete. I definitely recommend them for any tree trimming needs!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

There are several methods to hollow out a tree stump, and the best one depends on your tools, experience, and priorities. Common methods include using a chisel and hammer, a chainsaw, or burning.

  • Chisel and Hammer: This is often considered the easiest approach for those with limited tools or experience, though it is the most time-consuming.

  • Chainsaw: Using a chainsaw is the fastest method, but it comes with significant safety risks, especially for inexperienced users.

  • Burning: This can be an effective method, but it is not recommended unless you can first drill holes into the stump. Without holes, the stump will be difficult to light and may not burn completely through.

A power drill with at least a ⅜-inch diameter bit can make the job quicker and easier, regardless of the primary method. While you can use a chisel or chainsaw without a drill, it will require more time and effort. Always wear protective goggles and thick gloves, as splinters are an inevitable risk.

The cost of professional tree service, such as trimming, is $460 on average, but the price can range from $75 to $1,800. A more typical range is between $200 and $760. The final price depends on several factors, including the size and type of the tree. For example, trimming Crepe Myrtle trees costs an average of $80 to $400, while giant pine trees can range from $200 to $1,800. Other factors that influence the cost include the time of year, as services are often more expensive in the spring. Your location can also play a role; costs may be higher if you live in a remote area or if the tree is difficult to access. However, some professionals may offer a discount if you have multiple trees that need service.

For small trees, tree removal should take just a couple of hours to complete. Assume that a mid-sized tree will take between four and eight hours, depending on the extent of the equipment required and the health of the tree. Remember to add up to two hours for stump removal. Larger trees could take as long as one or two working days, about eight hours each.

Since overwatering can harm mature trees just as much as a lack of water, it’s important to know the signs of an overwatered tree. If your tree’s leaves are yellowing, wilting, or dropping leaves, it’s likely that you’re overwatering. Other common signs include rotting, fungi, soggy soil, soft or peeling bark, falling leaves, and brittle roots.

If you realize that you’ve been overwatering your mature tree, stop watering and give the soil time to dry out. Then moving forward, increase time between watering sessions.

Ideally, you should wait to prune until trees have gone dormant in late fall to early winter. The worst times to prune trees are early fall and late summer, as pruning them so close to dormancy makes it difficult for the tree recover before it goes dormant for the season.
