"They gave me a 4 hour window, then called at the beginning of the window time and told me when they would be arriving. My appointment was 40 minutes from the start time. He arrived about the time he said. Introduced himself and analyzed the job. Went to his truck and got all the tools he needed. He then did the evaluation on my system. He tested the heater unit as well as the individual registers to verify they all worked. I was very happy with the inspection and the person sent out to do the job.
I will definitely call them again when I need any heating or plumbing work done.

"I called several popular plumbing companies to replace an old dripping shower/tub faucet in the guest bath. All wanted to use their fixture and cut the shower tile to fit the new fixture, so I gave up. After a year or so, I joined Angie’s list and found Top Notch plumbing. Gordon had some fixture recommendations, but allowed me to purchase my own fixture that was compatible with my current installation. The overall install took about 3 hours. Gordon took care during the work to not damage any existing tile or carpet. He knows his craft and performed a very clean and professional install. Overall, I highly recommend Top Notch plumbing and will be saying goodbye to the popular TV advertising plumbers. Thanks Gordon!"

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Look for non-compliant water heaters missing required seismic strapping or proper venting. In older La Jolla homes, mismatched pipe materials joined without proper unions cause localized corrosion and leaks. You must also address persistent drain backups occurring despite repeated snaking, as this signals failing cast iron sewer lines. Finally, check for older slab leak repairs using simple epoxy patches rather than proper rerouting, which require immediate professional correction.

Helpful?

Inspect your property for visible signs of hard water damage, such as white scale buildup around faucets. Homes built before 1980 in La Jolla frequently contain older galvanized steel pipes prone to rust and blockages. Check your concrete slab foundation for warm spots or unexplained running water sounds, which indicate slab leaks. Coastal properties showing pinhole leaks from salt air corrosion are also prime candidates for a full plumbing evaluation.

Helpful?

Hire a licensed professional with verified experience handling coastal corrosion and mid-century home repiping in La Jolla. Your contractor must demonstrate a thorough understanding of state-specific building codes, including seismic safety and backflow prevention standards. Require a detailed written contract that provides conditional and unconditional lien waivers upon payment. Always ask for local references to confirm their expertise in managing specific soil and foundation conditions found in CA coastal neighborhoods.

Helpful?

You should immediately reject quotes from unlicensed contractors or those lacking workers' compensation insurance. A legitimate professional will explicitly include necessary permits for water heater replacements or repiping projects. Watch out for vague scopes of work regarding slab leak repairs that fail to address concrete restoration. Additionally, avoid contractors who ignore CA code requirements for seismic strapping, as this creates significant safety hazards and liability exposure for your property.

Helpful?

Updating your plumbing in La Jolla directly enhances your daily routine. Replacing older galvanized pipes eliminates chronic low water pressure and discolored water common in mid-century homes. Installing water filtration systems protects your fixtures from hard water mineral buildup and coastal corrosion. Adding low-flow toilets and efficient showerheads keeps your property compliant with CA conservation mandates. Upgrading outdoor irrigation systems also extends your usable living space year-round.
