"Excellent, Mark the plumber and his helper did the job right. Tonys Plumbing were the only plumbers who responded quickly and the only ones who gave me an estimate. The other plumbers did not."

Customers say: True professional

"Lou and his team did a major remodel for us. In addition to the kitchen, bathrooms, floors, closets, and fireplace, they also repaired and replaced the plumbing, electrical, heaters. They also turned outdated sliding glass doors into lovely French doors and built a beautiful laundry room out of what was essentially a basement cavern. We were abroad while the work was being done but there were no problems with communication. The Stone Age team is friendly, professional, and does quality work."

"We were immediately impressed with the knowledge and experience of Fred, the general contractor and owner of DECO construction. We were happy with all his workers, and they showed up on time six days a week for the duration of the project.  Every day Fred would stop by and check on progress and talk with us. Two weeks into the project, I had an accident while walking outside and had to spend two weeks in the hospital. I was so surprised when Fred showed up at the hospital with flowers. He knew how busy my husband was, and without being asked, he went shopping for a mirror, and took care or other details that we weren't able to do because of my condition. Many times, he brought samples of tiles, paint colors, etc to my bedside to discuss various choices, and helped us throughout the process. He maintained his professionalism throughout the project. Now we not only have a beautiful new bathroom, we also have a contractor that we won't hesitate to call on for future projects. Thank you, Fred!"

"Felipe knocked it out of the park again. He found the problem when our initial plumbers had their heads up their #@$%s. Worked on-time, asked our inspection of every aspect, did an immaculate job of tile, and was extremely clean and thorough. Even suggested that we do the job in two stages so we could determine the extent of any damage prior to just jumpingds in like a steer in a china shop. The final paint job looked like nothing was ever wrong. Love the guy and will recommend him to friends and acquaintances. Go Army!"

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

If you’ve accessed the bolts and nuts that hold your toilet seat in place and can’t unscrew them, it’s possible that they were overtightened or that the material corroded over time, making it impossible to unscrew. If that’s the case, you can either call in a plumber for help, or you can DIY a solution if you’re careful. Lay down masking tape around the mounting bracket and then use the tape as a surface to lay a hack saw blade. Move slowly to cut through the bracket and bolt, being careful not to damage the porcelain in the process.

While PEX can't melt, high temperatures can alter its performance. The maximum heat that PEX can safely be exposed to is 180 degrees Fahrenheit. When PEX is exposed to high temperatures for extended periods of time, it may fail. While copper can withstand hot temperatures better than PEX, copper pipes freeze more easily compared to PEX.

Your pipes will not freeze just because you’ve turned your water heater off. Rather, pipes freeze when temperatures outside drop below freezing and the pipes are not properly insulated. In fact, leaving your faucets trickling with warm water (from the water heater) is one of the best ways to prevent your pipes from freezing in the winter.

Your water heater itself may have problems in the cold, so it’s important to winterize it each year. In addition, keep an eye on it throughout the year for problems and address any issues accordingly. For instance, here’s what to do if your water heater is leaking from the top.

A sewage smell in your crawl space is usually from a damaged or clogged pipe leaking sewer gasses or actual sewage underneath your home, but there are some other common causes. Moisture, from poor or damaged encapsulation or a malfunctioning sump pump, can harbor mold and bacteria, causing a musty smell. Pests can also get stuck in your crawl space and die, which causes a sewage-like odor.

While polybutylene pipes are usually light gray, if you see gray pipes in your home that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re polybutylene. PVC pipes can also come in gray. Check for a “PB2110” stamp, slight flexibility, or a ½-inch to 1-inch diameter, which are also signs of polybutylene.
