"Ryan O. was the best. He presented himself professionally, as he review the job, Ryan explained everything with the step by step process of the project. He explained their portion of the work, from the time they get to my place thru the swift approval of the building inspector. He explained what we need and recommended what we don t need to help me save money. He also prep us up for future Solar Panels as well as Electrical Vehicle junction box connection. The connection will make it possible without the need of breaking the walls again, just to add either of the two service. As his workers (Jesse,Hector, George and Miguel) came in early, they were really quiet, knowing that my wife will be asleep from working the previous evening. Their setup was well organized and during the work they kept the area very clean. They also organize/ planned their work inside the house to minimize the disturbance to us. They communicated with radio or cell phones so not to yell to each other. They politely ask if they can come in and explained to us what work need to be done inside the house. Ryan and Samantha (admin) worked closely with us to complete the eDoc invoice proposal making sure the change was in writing and accurate for my Signature. My wife and I are so very please that we highly recommend Electra-Comm for any work that you need. We will definitely hire these guys again. Best decision I ever made. Thank you again guys."

"We hired LogicLamp to replace our old exterior pole lights with LEDs, and we?re so glad we did! The team was friendly, and professional, and took the time to explain the options. The new lights look fantastic?brighter, cleaner, and more energy-efficient. It?s made a noticeable difference in the look of our property and energy bills. We?re really happy with the whole process and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to make the switch to LED!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

A light switch should be at least 2 inches from the edge of the trim of a door. The location of wall studs will often help determine where to put the light switch by your doorway, and in most cases, wall studs make it impossible to install the switch closer than 2 inches. When possible, try to keep the switch within arm’s length of the entryway.

By nature, two-prong outlets aren't grounded—but the box they run to might be, which makes them safer. The safest way to test if an outlet is grounded is to purchase a circuit tester, which cost about $20 at home improvement stores.

If you discover your outlet (or outlets) aren't grounded, know that this greatly increases your risk of personal injury and electrical fires. You may want to consider installing new three-prong ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) outlets. On average, the cost to install GFCI outlets is about $210 per outlet.

Volts and watts aren’t directly convertible units—they measure different aspects of electricity. Volts measure electrical potential, while watts quantify the power. The relationship between the two is defined by the equation: Power (watts)= Voltage (volts) x Current (amperes). In other words, the product of volts and amps results in watts, but there is no fixed conversion of volts into watts.

How many string lights can be on one outlet depends on a number of varying factors, including the total wattage of your circuit, the type of lights, the energy needs of the lights, and cord specifications. It’s better to play it safe here to protect your circuit, so figure out the max wattage of your circuit, compare that to the lights, and move on from there. Generally speaking, LED string lights require less energy than incandescent bulbs, translating to a higher number of lights per circuit.

A weatherhead, the meter base, the breaker box, and a meter panel are all vital components of a working meter riser. If one part of the system is faulty, it could damage other parts, so consider having an electrician inspect the entire unit. The cost to replace the meter panel alone may cost $500 to $1,000, so consider this in your budget for replacing the meter riser.
